There goes 2022, and with 2023 around the corner, you can be sure that fashion styles will be changing soon. Shoes for one make pretty significant leaps in terms of style and what’s trendy or not.
Here is a list of shoes that have gone out of style in 2022, meaning they’re definitely out in 2023, so pay attention to what’s the current trend. People do notice what you have on so these tips will come in handy.
OUT: Strappy heels
These have become quite popular since they can go with pretty much anything you wear. And they’re not really bad but they didn’t exactly make a lot of noise so you can ditch those strappy heels now.
IN: Lace up heels
These ankle lace up heels are super feminine and sexy, and are definitely what’s trendy. Not to mention that the design just accentuates your ankles and legs. And yes, they are pretty comfortable.
OUT: Cork and leather wedges
These cork and leather wedges enjoyed a pretty strong following but just like that, they’re now being pushed into the back of shoe racks. The bulky design just did not age well.
IN: Espadrille wedge
Now these look similar but not as boxy or bulky. Comfortable for summer and spring, these work well with a nice dress or a good pair of jeans. And yes, your legs will look much longer.
OUT: Slides
Plain, boring, easy to wear and all, but they really don’t stand out which means they won’t be remembered as much.
There’s a much cuter option, click next to see!
IN: Woven slides
Now if you want easy slip on type sandals, these woven slides are the way to go. They are much dressier and will surely gain more attention from friends and strangers alike.
Plus they’ll go with any outfit.
IN: Chunky woven sandal
Here’s the masculine option being that they’re chunkier and darker. If you think you’ll be doing a lot more walking, hitting up the supermarket or going for a stroll with the dog, then these are a great option.
OUT: Flip flops
Not even beach goers rock these anymore. They came in a variety of colors but not even that was enough for these flip flops to stay trendy.
Maybe a pair at home will do since they can be practical.
IN: Rubber slides
Now these can be worn to the mall, the beach, for errands, and even lunch with friends. They’re made from rubber and so are super comfy and easy to clean.
Your feet will love a pair.
IN: Pillow slide
These pillow slides are super soft and comfortable as well and are a much better option to flip flops.
Super cute to pair with shorts or jeans for those quick meet ups with the gang.
OUT: Basic sneaker
Now these basic sneakers aren’t that bad since they are practical and comfortable. It’s like they’re just there, not totally in but not totally out either.
Maybe that’s why they’re “basic”.
IN: Retro/vintage sneaker
If you want to go for sneakers, grab a pair of these retro style ones. They are all the rage now, with that retro look surprisingly going well with different outfits.
Plus they come in different colors.
OUT: Soft ankle boot
Okay so these types of boots are okay, even cute, but times are changing with these styles slowly getting outdated.
How many people have you seen wearing these lately? There you go.
IN: Western cowboy boot
Western style cowboy boots are making a comeback. The secret is to get them in the right color. But they will go with a shorter dress perfect for a quirky function so it’s a great idea to have a pair just in case.
OUT: Classic slim loafer
Classic loafers don’t seem to go away in terms of fashion trends but they can get a little dated so give them a rest and put them in the closet for awhile.
See what’s next though and you’ll be surprised.
IN: Chunky loafer
Yup, chunky loafers are a thing, and are currently the in thing to have, since they give some height while not being high heels.
They are comfy and are great to wear for long days out with jeans or dresses.
OUT: Mule with metal chain detail
Maybe these got a bit too tacky to look at. It’s another style of shoes that you probably don’t see a lot of anymore.
The metal chain detail just did not age well with these.
IN: Clogs
Now these are a similar vibe to the western boots and mules, except chunkier. They are comfortable too, though not everyone will like these. And who knows how long they’ll last in terms of fashion trends?
