Shoes, not merely a practical accessory but a tangible expression of fashion, have long held the power to captivate and transform the world of style.
Some shoes gracefully withstand the test of time, becoming iconic staples that effortlessly bridge the gap between eras. Others, however, dance in and out of style, echoing the ebb and flow of the ever-changing fashion landscape. Learn what’s “in” and “out” starting with:
Out: Sandals with skinny detail
It’s not an issue if you still have these and like to wear them, but they have become pretty outdated for 2023.
In the ever-evolving world of fashion, trends come and go, and it seems that sandals with skinny details are no longer considered trendy or fashionable.
In: Brown slip-on with square toe
The woven, knot-like buttery details finished in a nice brown color is the new “in” for 2023.
And they do come in other colors, but that square toe finish just adds a nice touch of detail to the shoe.
In: Ivory woven slip-on
Here’s another option with a nice woven detail as well, with the nice ivory white finish matching with anything you have on.
Best part is these are not so expensive.
Out: Peep toe mules
Peep toe mules have fallen out of fashion and are considered outdated. They’re pretty annoying to wear with pants, and just look awkward when matched with a skirt.
Fashion trends change over time, and it appears that peep toe mules are no longer considered stylish or modern.
In: “Puff” mule
These have that puffy woven detail to them, hence the name, without so much being like peep toes.
But these go so well with pants or skirts, and anything else you want to throw on.
In: Strap mule
These strap mules give a hint of 90s nostalgia in 2023, and they are super comfortable and stylish to wear.
Straps and heel are shorter so you can wear them casually or dress up a bit more and hit the streets in style.
Out: “Perforated” shoes
Shoes with perforations, which are small holes or patterns, have become outdated in terms of fashion.
They do boast detail but you don’t really see a lot of these being worn anymore.
In: “Braided” detail
People love these so much that they are now available in so many colors.
These have the same woven detail except they look dressier, perfect for more intimate plans or even dates.
Out: Round toe pumps
While many argue that pumps never go out of style, they simply look to common now, so much so that everyone has them.
That doesn’t exactly scream style and unique.
In: Slingback pumps
These are super stylish now, and to be fair, these slingbacks are a style that has made a comeback.
They look great with jeans or skirts, and you can get them in many colors as well.
Out: Flats
Flats are great, but is another look that has been overdone to the point that it looks tired.
These are just shoes that have had their day but are better off left on the rack now.
In: Ballet flats
Ballet flats never seem to go out of style, seeing as they look so comfy but will pair well with anything you put on.
You can get them in different styles and pairs since they are once again very much trendy in 2023.
Out: Vans, Keds, or wedge sneakers
A lot of you will argue that there’s nothing generally wrong with these, and you’re right, but they tend to look far too generic now what with everyone sporting them.
In: Nike sneakers
Kick it up a notch with these Nike sneakers, since they come in so many styles and colors.
They really are eye catching and are all the rage once again. Plus you can find a unique style for yourself.
In: Nike Daybreaks
Nike Daybreaks, introduced in the 1970s, sport a retro design with a waffle sole and sleek silhouette.
Their enduring charm suits casual and streetwear styles, appealing to those who value comfort, nostalgia, and style in their footwear.
In: Reebok retro sneaker
The Reebok retro sneaker captures the essence of the past with its classic design and nostalgic appeal. This throwback shoe showcases Reebok’s iconic style and heritage, making it a favorite among those who appreciate vintage-inspired footwear.
Whether you’re aiming for a timeless look or adding a touch of old-school flair to your outfit, the Reebok retro sneaker delivers a stylish and enduring option.
Out: Crocs
Crocs, once a trendsetter, have fallen out of fashion. Were they ever in style though?
Sure they were more of a functional shoe but they never really went well with anything.
In: Rubber Birkenstock
They come in many shades, and even though they’ve been around, these are still very much in style for this year.
Birkenstocks also come in different styles so grab a few that matches the current season and have fun.
