Cops play a huge role in keeping the public safe. They work hard to make sure that the community and everyone who make it up are far from danger. Most of the time, the work they do gets unnoticed. Sometimes, they are even misunderstood for doing their job.
When Detective Sergeant Gary Sanders from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department was called to respond to a noise complaint, he didn’t think twice about giving the place a visit.
It turns out that the complaint was made against a local dance studio.
Performing his duties, the officer entered the studio and ordered the dancers to turn off the music. Most of the performers there were young women, ranging from elementary students to young adults.
Having a really great time, the dancers weren’t too happy to see Gary. He told them to stop or he’s going to write them a ticket.
“The noise is way too loud, and I’m going to have to write you a ticket.” -Gary told the young performers.
The dancers, however, thought of a clever idea.
They challenged the officer to a dance-off. Both parties agreed and they set a time and place where their epic battle will take place.
Not long after, the dancers, wearing their Tacoma Rainiers baseball jerseys, headed off to face Gary and other police deputies. The officers looked dashing in their uniforms.
The dance-off began and everyone was in high spirit.
Unfortunately, Gary and his guys were no match for the skills of the young dancers. They were easily defeated.
Eventually, the dancers headed to the Cheney Stadium. It’s where the minor league team of the city plays home games. Realizing his lost, Gary decided he had to tear the ticket.
The dance-off was obviously staged.
It was a light-hearted video made by Image Dance Studios with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. It was created to show everyone how everyone in a community can get along and have fun.
Police officers don’t always have the best image. Some of them are put in a really bad light and that what makes people hate them. In reality, however, the number of cops involved in negative behaviors is just little. They are still a minority compared with the number of police officers working hard to do their jobs.
Videos like this dance battle is a good way of showing that police officers can still have fun with the community. It’s also a good way of showing why people shouldn’t fear them or their presence. Police officers and the community can have a harmonious relationship if we just do our part and let them do their jobs.
