I like to call Lioz’ type of magic, the “Magic of Everyday Items” and I believe it fits quite well. His whole act is very serious, not a hint of emotion on his face. He even seems offended by those who laugh at him. Since he is telekinetic, if I were you, I’d try to take his act as seriously as he does. But good luck with that.
He starts off the act by playing with children’s toys. Nothing too out of the ordinary, right? The first of these toys is one of those foam ball shooter toys that you “pop” the ball out of that is attached to the string. He is a wiz with it! No really, he has that ball popping without even touching it. *wink wink*
Next up, he brings a measuring tape, acting as though no one knows how they work. But of course, who hasn’t been cut by one of those guys. It takes a magician to really make one glide so smoothly. But Lioz takes it another step further. He freezes it in time as if the entire world is moving about without it. Or at least, that’s how he portrays it.
He then shows us just how magical glitter can be when you magically send it to a snowglobe. Many at this point are saying, “this is an act? That’s how I entertain little kids!” But they say this with a laugh because they just can’t stop watching this “magician” work his magic. Is Lioz from the North Pole because he works that Christmas magic like a boss.
While everything up until now had us on the edge of our seats…not with laughter of course, what is next blows our minds. It gets crazy when he causes a doll full of potential energy to move on her own! Is this doll possessed or is he really telekinetic?
My personal favorite is when he does “rubber glove animals” similar to balloon animals. He starts off by turning it into Pikachu with a simple flick of his wrist. It really does look like Pikachu. he also does sea turtle, crying baby, and man when he’s sick.
Then, his very last trick is a prediction. He asks Nicole Scherzinger to pick a three-digit number. She picks 777, which he accepts. But when she has to pick a letter and picks S, he says “wrong” and tells her to pick “d” because that’s the right one. She does and he pulls out the largest bra you’ve ever seen. A 777D he claims!
This ends his act, with every judge nearly on the floor with laughter. Again, he seems offended that they “didn’t like his magic” and didn’t take it seriously. Of course, at this point, it isn’t up to the judges whether he makes it or not. But Australia weighs in later this week! We’ll see soon if Lioz makes it to the finals, and possibly wins the competition.
Oh, we should probably mention this is his Semi-finals performance, meaning he’s already made it a long way with his act. Chances are, he’ll have his own show before we know it! Tune in next week to see who else to keep an eye out for down under!
