Not everyone is born with the rhythm and moves to be a professional dancer. While dancing can be a great way to de-stress and have fun, it can also be hard for some people to let loose without feeling self-conscious.
Edgar Ramos is not one of those people.
Edgar is a 27-year-old Telcel sales representative who went viral after a video of his dancing was uploaded onto YouTube.
According to El Universal Veracruz, Edgar was hired to promote the TelCel brand in local stores. Given complete freedom, Edgar did what any happy-go-lucky employee would do: he set up speakers in a Coppel department store and danced his little tush off.
Edgar’s choreographed moves include energetic bouncing and serious hip thrusting.
They are set to the tune of “El Serrucho”, a popular Colombian hit. The song, coupled with his quirky choreography, have led to Edward being nicknamed “El Serrucho”, which translates to “The Saw” in English.
When the video of Edgar went viral, he became an instant celebrity in Mexico.
In an interview with Informa BTL, Edgar boasts about having more Twitter mentions than the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. He even had a “Serrucho Power” Facebook page with over 36,688 likes, but it has since been deleted.
According to REMEZCLA, after Edgar was seen dancing at the Coppel department store, other southern-Mexican retailers hired him to dance at their stores too. They hoped to lure customers with Edgar’s energetic presence and unbeatable charm.
In the Sam’s Club video below, Edgar is back at it with his El Serrucho moves. A few recognizable steps include his hilarious hip thrusts and saw-like arm movements.
It definitely doesn’t take him long to draw a crowd. Men, women, and children alike are mesmerized by his energy.
It’s nice to see someone like Edgar who truly enjoys their job. Not only is he having a blast, he’s also bringing smiles to people’s faces.
This video is a reminder to never take yourself too seriously. Since it went viral in 2014, other employees have followed Edgar’s dancing lead. Be sure to check out these clips of a dancing sales manager, breakdancing Toronto cop, and a groovin’ construction worker.
And, next time you’re having a rough day at work, take a tip from Edgar Ramos, the most recognizable sales rep in Mexico.
Instead of calling it quits, simply crank the tunes, bust a move, and be sure to do a few hip thrusts. Life’s too short to be anything but fantastic.
