When an elderly woman took the stage to perform a dance, little did the audience know she was about to set it on fire.

Everyone was surely curious as the “granny” stepped in front of the band of musicians. But once they began to play a tune, there was no holding her back.

They say you’re only as old as you feel – so this woman must really be in her 20’s.

It all started with a little shoulder shimmy. But only a moment later she got her legs and hips in on the action too, turning into an epic salsa dance routine!

Everyone cheered to see the woman move with confidence on stage. She wore a huge smile on her face as she showed the world that “she’s still got it.”

At one point, she shakes her hips so well that the crowd can’t help but hoot and holler. Obviously, this lady’s got some serious skills up her sleeve.

Her salsa dance is perfectly paired with the musicians becoming the ultimate showstopping act. All while she dances, they play their instruments in the background – which is pretty neat to watch.

Even they can’t keep straight faces watching the grandma’s hot and spicy moves.

According to Dance Shoes Store:

“Salsa is popular throughout Latin America as well as in North America, Europe, Australia, and some countries in Asia and the Middle East. It is fast becoming a global phenomenon.”

They also say:

“Salsa is typically a partner dance, although there are recognized solo forms, line dancing (suelta), and Rueda de Casino, where groups of couples exchange partners in a circle. Salsa can be improvised or performed with a set routine, choreography and freestyle.”

Just because you get older, doesn’t mean you have to stop doing the things you love. There’s no question this granny has a passion for dancing and is quite talented as well.

On top of salsa dancing being a fun and entertaining hobby, physicians agree that dancing itself is an excellent workout with many health benefits. On WebMD, Physical Therapist Ross Brakeville explained:

“Depending on the style, you can improve your heart health, joint mobility, strength, balance/coordination, and an overall sense of well-being, making dance good for most everyone.”

Dancing is also great for a person’s mental health – including those who are elderly. MindWise pointed out an interesting study that came to this conclusion.

“A small group of senior adults, ages 65-91, was recently studied in North Dakota. After taking 12 weeks of Zumba (a dance fitness class), the seniors reported improved moods and cognitive skills. Not to mention increased strength and agility.”
