Meet Ben and Justin Hudgins, the owners of Novak Hair Studios in Fort Worth, Texas. These two are all about being the best business owners they can be! They receive five star review after five star review and it’s clear their community loves them! As all good business owners know, this extends to their employees as well, whom the Hudgins’ consider family!
The Hudgins’ usually celebrate their employees birthdays in person, but with COVID-19, their plans were interrupted.
Luckily, Ben and Justin can get creative.
Normally we celebrate Birthdays at the salon at the end of every month. With COVID having us distancing, we decided to bring our March/April Birthday celebration to them!
The Hudgins’ resolved to go that extra mile, get silly and show their love as best they could given the circumstances!
They donned their best birthday bee suit and drove around delivering cakes!
(The bee is their salon mascot!)
Those cakes look mighty fine, how fancy!
They showed up to their employees doors playing happy birthday music, a total shock to their work family!
Just look at the reactions they got!
Often a little embarassed, always surprised and absolutely always happy, employees usually had to take a minute to take it all in!
After all, how often does a dancing bee show up at your door with birthday cake?
I especially love the family members who’s first reactions were to pull their phones out and record this happening!
No doubt this came at the perfect time! People with birthdays in March and April would have a lonely celebration with social distancing and isolation being in effect.
This act of kindness reminds them that they’re loved and cherished as much more than just a worker bee!
Employees, friends and family all hopped on Facebook to show their appreciation of Ben and Justin’s video, even if they weren’t in it!

After delivering the birthday cakes, they got a quick dance out of each of the birthday ladies, turning their days into a surprise dance party! They often had family to dance along with them, reluctantly and otherwise!
They finally capped off the video with their well wishes for every one of their employees, saying how much they missed and loved them.
It’s so sweet to see employers show their love for their employees so strongly.
