Her sheer talent and devotion to the sport if obvious – but I can’t comprehend being able to move like that.

Rhythmic gymnastics is probably one of the hardest sports out there. It requires not just flexibility and balance but also discipline, patience, and a lot of hard work.

This type of gymnastics involves a person or a group of people performing a routine that’s set to certain music. The performance can include acrobatics, dancing, and apparatuses.

For Russian gymnast Daria Kondakova, her performance involved a golden ball and it captivated everyone who saw her perform.

Her routine started with her lying on the floor. As soon as the music started, she did this awesome inversion that sent the ball from the back of her shoulder to her front. The movements were so fluid and mesmerizing at the same time.

The next thing you know, she’s running the ball across her arm and back while doing leg routines and spinning. She made several leaps and twirls without dropping the ball or pausing for a bit.

She manipulates the ball as if it was part of her body.

At one point, she made a controlled spin with her leg bent just above her head. The part made her look like a ballerina. Then, she tossed the ball while doing an amusing jump and catching the golden ball again.

This kind of performances is typical of the Russian gymnast. Being a three-time World all-around silver medalist, she always delivers her best performances. She’s also skilled in other apparatuses, like clubs, ribbons, and hoops.

Daria isn’t new to the sports. She actually started young and that allowed her to gain experiences and skills that made her one of the most famous people in rhythmic gymnastics.

Unfortunately, a prior injury had relapsed, preventing her from participating in more competitions and she had to retire.

Her retirement, however, didn’t stop her from being involved in the sports. She began coaching young athletes to share her knowledge and skills to them. She started honing new talents and helping younger gymnasts work on their dreams.

Some of her past students included Maria Titova, an all-around silver medalist of the Grand Prix Final, and Victoria Veinberg Filanovsky, a member of the Israeli Gymnastics National Team. She also trained Patricia Bezzoubenko, a Canadian rhythmic gymnast. She’s a bronze medalist at the Pan American Games and a three-tome Canadian Senior National champion.

The success of these two gymnasts and the rest of Daria’s students is proof of both her talent and generosity to share what she knows and what she is capable of doing.
