Before he competed on The Voice Germany, singer and songwriter Andreas Kummert was trying to build his music career by joining different rock bands in Germany.

He joined the grunge band Silent Cry and won several music competitions with them. But it wasn’t until he decided to audition in The Voice Germany that he would achieve musical success.

For his blind auditions, he sang “Rocket Man” by Elton John and had all four chairs turn. More than that, they all got out of their chairs to get closer to Andreas and listen to him sing.

The audience was up on their feet and cheering for him. The judges were just incredulous at the fantastic voice before them.

Andreas chose to be part of Team Max Herre, a German singer, songwriter, and record producer and was one of the founding members of Freundeskreis and the Kolchose, a federation of artists from Stuttgart.

After achieving success as the singer, guitarist, and songwriter for Silent Cry, he went solo, He released his debut album “Smilin’ In Circles”, which received positive reviews and helped his fan base grow steadily since.

And when he auditioned for The Voice Germany, his fan base grew even bigger. In fact, it had gotten so big that he consistently got at least the majority percentage of votes during the live show’s public votes.

In the first live show, he had gotten the larger percentage of the votes (from the public and from his coach, Max) with his rendition of “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” originally sung by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. In the semi-finals, where he sang “With A Little Help From My Friends” by The Beatles and the song in the video below, he received 78.9% of the public vote.

In the final show that year, he sang “Simple Man” and won The Voice Germany.

Since then, his songs from The Voice Germany topped the charts in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. He released his next album “The Mad Hatter’s Neighbour” and, to his delight, it reached the Top 20 charts in Germany. In the same year, he also released another album “Here I Am”, which became a gold record in Germany.

And that was just the start.

It was announced that he was going to be one of seven German singers who was going to compete at the Unser Song für Deutschland. This competition determined the official German entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Andreas eventually won with 78.7% of the public vote with his song “Heart Of Stone.”

But, as soon as the announcement was made, he piqued the interest of the international media when he declined the win and asked that it be given to the runner-up, Ann-Sophie, instead.

He told the competition host, Barbara Schoneberger, “I’m really not in the right shape to accept this.”

“I give my title to Ann Sophie,” Andreas said.

But, despite the controversy, Andreas still continued to achieve musical success in Germany.

After the success of his last two albums, he released a new one called “Recovery Case.” And just last year, he released his latest album “Lost And Found,” with “Keep My Heart Beating” as the first single. This album was a departure from his usual blues sounds and he ventured into new musical influences with this album.
