If you’re looking to accentuate some of your face’s best qualities, bangs can do the trick. But according to NewBeauty Magazine, “only if they’re cut and styled correctly.”

Lead artistic director at KMS and owner of Oya Salon, Brian Bode, is here to provide some tips on what style is best for each type of face. Whether your face is round, oval, square, or heart – it’s possible to look fabulous with bangs!

Round

If you have a round face like Anna, then Brian has some recommendations to help your features pop. He cut her bangs a little choppier and also kept them “heavier.”

Tip for rounds: Slightly angled heavy bangs accent cheekbones

Brian explained:

“What we’ve done is we’ve created a great length to really accentuate her eyes. And then, it’s slightly angled so that it’s a little longer towards the perimeter to really accentuate her cheekbones and start blending into her length.”

To add some shine, he sprays some KMS Hair Play Dry Wax at the end. Doesn’t she look fun and flirty?

Tip for ovals: V-shaped bangs give versatility to a look

By cutting her bangs using this style, Susan’s able to wear them in either direction. It also provided some “softness” to her forehead as well.

Brian points out how he left some length to her bangs (in the corners), which will help fill in the missing corner of an oval-shape. They’re a beautiful addition, don’t you think?

Square

For this shape, the stylist starts with softening the corners. After making cuts to May Lou’s hair the new style of bangs helps bring out her cheekbones. In addition, by covering her face’s corner, it provides a softer look.

Tip for squares: Side-swept bangs soften the face and accent cheekbones

He also adds some KMS Silk Sheen Polishing Serum to help with the final touches. Wow, she looks stunning!

Heart

This face shape is slightly narrower on the bottom and wider on top. So, for the perfect bangs-style, Brian says:

“What we want to do, is we want to start to eliminate some of the width towards the top. We want to accentuate her cheekbones and soften her chin line.”
