You need to read this note!

In the United States, around 3 million people will experience homelessness every year. Stop and think about that for a second. Think about all those people without a proper place to sleep and a proper meal to eat. It breaks my heart. Although it’s tough with our busy lives, I always make it a point to give back to the homeless people in my community whenever I get the chance.

You may think that a single person’s actions will have no affect on such a systematic social problem, but I would beg to differ. You see, it’s a single person’s actions that can inspire a nation into action. The power of inspiration is a beautiful thing to witness, and I hope the story of this kind-hearted restaurant owner will serve to do just that.

When Ashley Jiron, the owner of P.B Jams restaurant in Warr Acres, Oklahoma, noticed that homeless people were eating out of her restaurant dumpsters every night, she had a choice. She could’ve ignored them, and let these desperate homeless people continue to do what was needed to survive. Instead, Ashley decided to do something that has warmed hearts all around the country.

Ashley decided to place a note next to the dumpsters. What did the note say? Check out the photo below to find out.

The note reads:

To the person going through our trash for their next meal,

You’re a human being are worth more than a meal from a dumpster. Please com in during our operating hours for a PB&J, fresh veggies, and a cup of water at no charge. No questions asked.

– Your friend, the owner

Ashley told KFOR,

“I will not take down that sign until they come in.”

What Ashley is doing for her community is being rightfully lauded by people all around the country. Homelessness is still a problem today. We hope Ashley’s kind deed will serve as a reminder that it only takes one step to bring change.
