In a time where fake news continues to pervade the media, staying updated on current affairs has proven to be a challenge. On top of that, you have millions of users online who bombard social media timelines with videos and articles from either credible or untrustworthy sources. Wanting to be in the know of what’s going on around the globe should be simple and straightforward, but since the unpleasant mix of social media and fake news, it’s become quite frustrating. It can get pretty confusing really, especially when one doesn’t take time to research and fact check.

That’s why it’s refreshing to come across good news (from dependable publications and networks) and funny posts.

Recently, TV reporter Justin Hinton added to that list with a filter faux pas.

There Justin was in Asheville, North Carolina, doing a live report on the area’s first major snowfall when he unknowingly activated a filter generator. The good-natured reporter even shared a collage of the filters on a Facebook post, along with a brief description of what happened.

“Right before going live on Facebook on the WLOS ABC 13 station account to talk about snow, I somehow activated a filter generator. The photog I was working with said something about the screen having weird faces. He didn’t elaborate, so I said it would probably go away. Needless to say, it did not go away.”

He seriously had no idea what was happening.

He continued delivering the weather report professionally, prompting users watching the livestream to comment on how hilarious it was to see filter after filter appearing on the unknowing reporter’s face.

Apparently, snow wasn’t the only thing falling from the sky. The filter generator also made it look as if gold confetti was raining down on the ground, too.

“I didn’t realize it until I stepped off camera and saw the comments where people were talking about the faces. My bosses, coworkers, friends, PIOs and more called/texted saying how funny it was.”

If you’re wondering what his bosses thought of the live report blunder, don’t worry – according to Justin, they all had a good laugh about it, too.

“My bosses, coworkers, friends PIOs and more called/texted saying how funny it was,” he shared.

Seems the honest mistake lightened the mood not just for the reporter’s bosses and colleagues, but for viewers everywhere. Talk about a refreshing break from boring weather updates and bothersome news! Everybody loved how professional Justin was.

Sure, he may not have been aware that the generator switched from filter to filter as he was reporting, but you have to hand it to him – he’s great at his job. And what a good sport, too!

“If you can’t laugh at yourself, what’s the point of laughter? I hope you enjoyed the snow day, and remember to smile and laugh!”

Upon realizing the gaffe was what invited countless comments on his livestream, he did not hesitate to share the backstory online and poke fun at himself.
