A Filipino can turn a karaoke performance into a full concert, and this girl will show you exactly how.

In malls and appliance stores in the Philippines, karaoke players are usually displayed outside and can be used by random passersby. That’s what this “random girl”, as she is known on the internet, did. She graced shopgoers with a show they never expected.

In a video posted on YouTube, Zendee Rose Tenerefe is seen singing “I Will Always Love You”, a song considered to be one of the all-time greatest power ballads. Wearing a pair of shorts, a t-shirt, and a red backpack, there’s really no way of telling that this girl is a hundred percent made of sheer talent.

Whitney Houston’s cover of “I Will Always Love You” is one of the most enduring songs of her era.

It was written by country legend Dolly Parton in 1973 and was included in her 1974 album “Jolene”. She wrote the song as a goodbye to her mentor Porter Wagoner who felt hurt that they were separating professionally. To ease Wagoner and tell him how much she appreciated their time together, Parton played the song to him the morning after she wrote it.

The song would experience a newly found fame when Whitney Houston starred alongside Kevin Costner in the 1992 movie The Bodyguard.

It was actually Kevin Costner who suggested the song to be the movie’s lead single after the first song suggestion “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted” was used by the movie Fried Green Tomatoes. Costner suggested Parton’s song when he was playing Linda Ronstadt’s 1975 version.

In the Philippines, this song enjoys a different kind of fame as it is considered a karaoke staple, together with Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” and Celine Dion’s “To Love You More”. These songs are a sure way to flaunt your hidden vocal prowess, considering how demanding they are when it comes to powerful notes.

These “powerful notes” seemed like second nature to Zendee, though.

As she progressed through the song, you can hear that the crowd was sounding a bit louder as people began to notice the perfection of her rendition.

Her rendition of Whitney Houston’s hit cover was not the only mall performance she did. She also wowed mall patrons with And I Am Telling You by Jennifer Holliday.

After she became viral as the “Random Girl” singing these incredible covers of hit songs, her talents landed her a spot in the Ellen DeGeneres Show where she appeared on the same episode as Oscar winner Halle Berry.

This huge success led her to more opportunities.

She signed with Warner Music Philippines and released her debut album I Believe in 2013. She’s also publishing regular content in her YouTube channel, covering vlogs, cover songs, and even video game streams.
