When her mom asked her why she did this, her response was “Kids don’t get married so that’s why I put a headlock down on him. And that’s why I took him down.”
When she recovered, her dad started to wrestle with her in order to help her gain strength and coordination.
Her dad was quoted as saying, “It’s not like I taught her [a headlock]. I was just trying to get her stronger and coordinated and I guess she figured out what I was doing and I didn’t really realize she learned it.”
You can never start learning self-defense at too young of an age and Kynlee surely has a head start on many people.
According to World of Self-Defense, “Considering the alarming rate and increase in child trafficking globally, our kids should have the option of being prepared for a worst-case scenario, it’s our duty as parents to teach them some plan of action, whether it be self-defense or just outsmarting an attacker whenever they notice something out of the ordinary.”
So the ideal situation for little Kynlee is that she continues to wrestle with her father and learn more self-defense moves, but know when and where it is appropriate to use them.
I can only imagine how many things you worry about as a parent.
I’m still a long way off from becoming a dad (hopefully), but I have a few friends and a sister who have kids and I’ve heard them share their worries about keeping their kids safe.
