Falling in love is a beautiful thing.
It can bring out the best in us and can cause us to do some pretty incredible things.
For most of us, falling in love is something that we do in our adolescent or adult years–not in preschool.
But for Matt Grodsky, his turn at love came early.
When he was just three years old, he met the love of his life.
Her name was Laura Scheel and Matt was hooked from the moment that he met her.
According to Bored Panda, Matt wrote that “One of my very first memories is of being three years old and standing up in front of my pre-school class, declaring that I would marry her someday.”
Of course, childhood love tends to fade more often than it sticks around.
And like so many preschool-loves before, Matt and Laura’s relationship ended as they transitioned into kindergarten and elementary school.
But then, during his freshman year in high school, Matt and Laura were reintroduced to each other by a mutual friend.
The two hit it off immediately and were soon back together again.
They became high school sweethearts, and this time, they made sure that they wouldn’t lose touch again.
As the years went on, Matt was growing more and more sure that he was going to fulfill his preschool promise to marry Laura someday.
So in 2015, he decided to pop the question.
But where to do it?
Well, there really was only one place that made sense to Matt.
He writes, “We remained a resilient couple until May 23rd, 2015 when I decided to stay true to my preschool pledge and make Laura my wife. I proposed to her at the place it all began… our preschool classroom.”
That’s pretty romantic if you ask me.
Matt gives us an inside look into how it all went down as he writes,”The whole car ride to the preschool she kept asking me why I seemed anxious. I kept checking my pocket when she wasn’t looking to make sure the ring was still there. I dropped down on one knee while my brother came in with the phone, snapping photos. Laura was shocked. I gave her my pitch on why I wanted her to marry me and she said yes ― whew!”
In December 2016, the preschool sweethearts finally tied the knot and got married.
Their incredible story of romance is finally complete–and just beginning at the same time.
These two are an inspiration to everyone out there in search of love.
We all want a love story that is as adorable and enticing as theirs.
And it just goes to show that if you’re willing to put in the effort and time, then you can make any relationship work–even one that started in preschool.
It can be tough though, and I’m sure even Matt and Laura’s relationship gets rocky at times.
But if you commit to a single person with all of your love and put in the work that is needed then it can be done.
So whether you’re in a relationship now or you’re still on the lookout for one, use this story as a source of inspiration and hope, and go make your romantic dreams come true.
