Men wearing top knots — or man buns, as they’re so lovingly referred to— have made brief appearances all throughout history.
Terra Cotta Warriors, George Harrison, and even Buddha have all sported the iconic style at one point or another.
Nowadays, the man bun is associated with a casual care-free lifestyle that just isn’t compatible with the political realm.
But, after a Twitter user Photoshopped a picture of Donald Trump with a man bun, the internet has gone nuts.
Design crowdsourcing website DesignCrowd has decided to host a contest, asking people to submit their best Photoshopped pictures of politicians sporting a man bun.
The rules are simple: make the man buns realistic and the pictures awesome. Overall, there are currently 101 submissions with many having been withdrawn. Although most of the politicians are American, the submissions do include a few international figures, as well.
So, without further ado, here are a few of our favorite designs from the DesignCrowd man bun politician Photoshop contest!
1. Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln looks great with his luscious brown locks tied tightly back into a man bun.
Did somebody say Babe-raham Lincoln?
2. Kim Jong-Un
North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un’s half-shaved, half-top style coupled with his cheeky grin makes him look like a young, harmless child again.
3. Barrack Obama
Barrack Obama actually seems to be able to pull of the man bun look quite well. The long, messy, back bun says “I woke up like this and I still look good.”
4. George W. Bush
George W. Bush rocks a man bun consisting entirely of corn-row braids. This look screams “I came to party!” and “Please, don’t tell my Dad”.
5. Adolf Hilter
Adolf Hitler stares soulfully into the distance while sporting the same half-shaved top knot style as fellow dictator Kim Jong Un.
6. John F. Kennedy
John F. Kennedy’s shaggy, androgenous bun is mighty representative of the beginning of the 60s hippie era.
7. Vladimir Putin
Vladimir Putin’s man long, styled bun makes him looks like he should be playing a mob boss in an action movie. But, then again, he kind of always looks like that..?
Wow! Did these designers do some amazing work or what? I’m not sure I’ll be able to look at these politicians the same way again!
Also, don’t forget, the DesignCrown contest currently has 101 submissions. Be sure to head on over to the official contest page where you can see them all!
