“Me Too” is a famous song that was released by pop singer Meghan Trainor back in 2016. The song, which was from her sophomore album Thank You, was a major commercial success. It made a crack in the charts, went platinum in some countries, and was basically impossible to escape when it first came out. Most importantly though, it was a song that preached all about self-love. Anyone who listened to it suddenly felt empowered, with lyrics like, “I can’t help lovin’ myself and I don’t need nobody else.”
So naturally, this was the perfect song for the Flower Mound Police Department, who chose it when they decided that they wanted to participate in a fun little lip sync challenge.
What’s better than lip syncing? Lip syncing to a fun song all about loving yourself, of course!
“We may be late to the #lipsyncchallenge party, but we have arrived,” the department, who was tagged by the Grapevine Police Department, wrote in the description of the video. “The wait is finally over, Flower Mound!”
“We love serving you and hope you enjoy seeing your FMPD employees take on some new moves,” they continued.
“Thanks for the challenge, Grapevine Police Department,” they said. “We’re passing the #lipsync baton to the Grand Prairie Police, Highland Village Police Department, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office (Louisiana), and Sachse Police Department.”
What’s probably most impressive about the video is that it is so well done. The dept. clearly took their time to get a variety of shots and include every member of the team. Plus, every member of the team looked really happy to be there participating!
The whole clip begins with one member boogying his way over into the middle of the screen. Then it cuts to another shot of a handful of cops looking way “too cool” — hair spraying their hair, dancing and moving their hips, and passing brushes around at the bathroom counter.
Then it cuts to another clip of a cop getting dressed and looking at himself in his locker mirror (don’t worry, it’s totally PG). As the lyrics he’s mouthing suggest, he is totally feeling himself and it is hilarious!
Other cops are seen walking through the office as they break out into choreographed dance moves that are actually quite impressive (for police, at least!). A few other “singers” are seen “singing” at the gym as they do tricep dips, bicep curls and pull-ups — because duh, they gotta stay strong!
There are about a hundred other shots in the video — cops in conference rooms, cops outside in the parking lot, and cops driving in their cars. You name it.
It is impressive that they were able to really utilize their space and get everyone on the team involved. And it looked like it was the highlight of their day, too!
The video went viral since it was uploaded in 2018 — currently at 1.2 million views — and continues to get lots of love to this day. We can see why!
