Everyone knows that in the United States we have a big tipping culture. Many employees these days actually rely on tips to survive. This is especially so in the food service industry where the base pay for many positions often doesn’t even reach the minimum wage.

However, no one appreciates a good tip more than your local pizza delivery driver.

With most delivery drivers paying for gas and wear and tear on their car out of pocket, tips to them are more important than ever.

That’s why when surveillance cameras captured video footage of employees from a small car dealership in Massachusetts not only stiffing a pizza delivery driver on a tip but insulting him as well, the Internet decided to take matters into their own hands.

It all started when Palace Pizza delivery driver Jarrid Tansey delivered $42 dollars worth of pizza and sodas to the F & R Auto Sales dealership in Westport, MA.

When he arrived, they gave him two twenties, and two fives for a total of $50 on the $42 bill.

As you would expect, Tansey rightfully assumed that the extra money on top was a tip.

However, when he got back to the store, his manager informed him that someone from the car dealership had called them complaining that they didn’t get any change, and wanted him to drive back to give them their $7 and coins.

The video footage begins when Tansey gets back to the dealership to give them their money.

“It just doesn’t make sense why you’d hand me a bill that you were just going to have me drive back here to give you back anyway,” Tansey can be heard saying as he returns the cash.

The man responded, “I gave you everything they gave me so we would get the correct change.”

After they go back and forth for a little bit, Tansey made it clear that he wasn’t mad, just irritated that he had to waste his time and gas driving back.

This is when things started to escalate.

The man turned to Tansey, “The manager apologized once for you, do you want him to apologize again for you?”

As Tansey leaves to walk out the door, he responded one last time:

“It’s okay, you got your seven dollars back, the world is right now,” Tansey said.

However, that wasn’t the end of the confrontation. While Tansey was walking out, one of the female employees in the room continued:

“Hey, out the door before I put my foot in your a**,” the woman yelled.

All of the employees erupted in laughter. Another man in the dealership instructed one of his colleagues to get the Palace Pizza manager on the phone again.

“I want him fired,” he said followed by a string of expletives.

They really wanted to teach the delivery driver a lesson. What lesson is that? We’re not sure exactly.

Although they didn’t know it at the time, it would actually be Tansey who would end up getting the last laugh.

The video quickly went viral on YouTube, and before you know it, negative reviews started rolling in for the car dealership.

One should never upset the Internet mob.

One user wrote:

“Do you or someone you know want to be treated like crap? Then this is your go to place!”

It got so bad that the car dealership even called the police. Eventually, however, the owner decided to make a public apology as reported by CNN:

“We would like to apologize for the actions that led to this situation, this embarrassing video gone viral on the Internet, was not released by any employee of F&R Auto Sales,” Gary Batista, sales manager for the business said.

They even gave Tansey a cash donation of an undisclosed amount to make up for the incident.

The Internet too wanted to help make things right. After seeing the video, someone started a Go Fund Me page for Tansey in his name entitled, “Get Jarrid his tip money!”, and within days, it had earned over $11,000.

How’s that for making things right?

Although I’m sure this was a very unpleasant experience for Tansey at the time, karma works in mysterious ways.

Thanks to the thousands of generous people across the country who donated, Tansey ended up receiving the tip of a lifetime.
