Pink was on tour in Australia, giving her all to make sure her fans have a great time. But when she looked into the crowd, she did not expect to see this.

The best-selling pop star had been performing in concerts for the Beautiful Trauma Tour since the tour started in Phoenix, Arizona on March 1, 2018.

By the time she reached Australia for the Oceania leg of her tour, it had already been 5 months of non-stop touring. She only had a one-month break between the end of the North America leg and the start of the Oceania leg.

Brisbane was the fifth city in the Oceania leg with seven shows. But the August 21, 2018 concert was a special one, especially for 14-year-old Leah Murphy. Leah was at the concert with her aunt, Katrina Donkin.

But the truth is, Leah wasn’t supposed to be at that concert. Her mom was supposed to be there because her mom, Debbie, was a huge Pink fan.

But tragedy struck and Debbie passed away in June, two months before Pink’s concert.

Originally, Debbie bought a ticket to Pink’s Sydney concert. But Pink had to cancel the concert because she was feeling under the weather. But Katrina was able to buy another ticket to the same Brisbane show for Leah.

They held up a sign that read “My name is Leah – I’m 14 years old. I lost my beautiful Mum last month. I would LOVE a hug … Please!”

Before the Brisbane concert, Katrina told CBS News that she had been sending messages to Pink, her backup dancers, and everyone else she could think of to share Leah and Debbie’s story. She had wanted, if it was possible, for Pink to send a message of love to Leah.

Nobody replied but she didn’t give up. She went to the concert with Lea and the now-famous sign.

“We didn’t think there was a chance but we held them up in hope she would see it,” Katrina said.

Unfortunately, during the concert, Pink wasn’t able to see the sign clearly so the message wasn’t delivered. But the crowd around them saw the sign and the message and they helped Katrina and Leah get it to Pink.

“Strangers in the crowd grabbed the signs and we waved them frantically whenever she looked over our way,” Katrina recounted, “Until she squinted and said ‘ok what IS that?'”

The fans grabbed it and passed it to the front so that Pink could read it.

When Pink finally read the message, she immediately went down the stage and looked for Leah. When Pink saw Leah, she gave her a long, big hug.

“Pink said to her ‘you’re pretty — oh don’t cry — it’s going to be OK,'” Katrina shared, “Leah told Pink how much her mum loved her.”

Pink took the time to take selfies with Leah before she returned to the stage.

“Everyone, call your mom,” Pink told the crowd when she went back on stage.

The moment may have only been for a few minutes but it was going to last a lifetime for Leah.

“She is so heartbroken,” Katrina said. “But since the concert, she hasn’t stopped smiling and singing.”

Katrina believed Debbie had something to do with his touching moment.

“I believed she orchestrated the whole thing and sent her little girl a hug from heaven,” Katrina shared.
