Getting engaged is one of the most memorable times in a person’s life. For this reason, men often try and make the experience special. With social media, we often see viral stunts and flash mobs marking the occasion. But amateur pilot Anthony Bordignon? Well, he decided on something slightly more terrifying.
Anthony had been dating his girlfriend Katherine for two years and was sure she was ‘the one’.
After buying an engagement ring, he wanted to come up with a unique way to propose. In the end, his plan was a success, with the video going viral.
But Katherine? Well, I’m not sure if she was so pleased.
In the video, Anthony and Katherine are in the midst of a plane ride when something starts to go wrong.
Anthony, still trying to steer the plane, tells her that none of the controls are working, and they aren’t registering a response. As you can imagine, Katherine immediately starts to panic. Anthony jiggles the controls, trying to make something happen, but they seem to be dangerously out of luck.
“Can you grab the checklist from the side,” her asks her, pointing to an emergency list hanging beside her. “Can you start from the top, please? Just don’t panic. The next one, over page two.”
Grabbing the pack of papers, Katherine begins to read the emergency instructions, panic evident in her voice.
Anthony follows each of her directives, but nothing seems to be working. Finally, he tells her they may have no choice but to land in a field; she needs to skip to page ten.
“Ten, verify flight is engaged… Initiate engagement ring process following steps eleven to fourteen…”
“You’re lying,” she says abruptly, finally catching on.
“Does the passenger— I hate you!” she exclaims, tears falling from her eyes. At this point, she’s already full of adrenaline, so it doesn’t take much for the emotions to arise.
“You’re such an idiot,” she tells him.
“Is that a yes?” he asks in response.
“I love you so much so I freaking do!” she squeals.
Since being uploaded, Anthony’s heart-stopping proposal has been viewed over 19 million times. After watching, many have been inspired to share their engagement stories too:
