1. Friendly Flyer
The sheer size of this dragonfly is startling. It’s also surprisingly tame. It has no reservations about landing on the hand of a human to say hello.
2. Alien Pickle
Here we have a pickle being held underneath an ultraviolet light. It makes it look like something from another planet. The inside is glowing pink and the outside is neon green.
3. Pallasite Meteor
A pallasite is a type of stony-iron based meteor composed of dark crystals. Each crystal is encased in metal. If you really want to appreciate its full beauty, you have to hold it up in front of a light source.
4. Quiet Concert
These street musicians put on an entire concert without using amplifiers. The only way to hear them play was by wearing headphones. You could stop for a minute and listen as you passed by.

Only half of this sunflower bloomed. It only formed the signature yellow flowers on one side while the rest of the flower remained green. It was split right down the middle.

In a batch of quail eggs, one always hatches around ten to twelve hours before the others. It is known as a scout. It breaks out of the egg early and scouts the way for the other babies to make sure that there is no danger around.

We’ve seen bell peppers in green, red, yellow, and orange varieties before. However, this is the first time that we’ve ever come across purple ones. If we weren’t paying attention, we might mistake them for red onions.

Who needs tents and canopies when you have nature? It turns out, all you really need is one big tree. It provides enough shade for hundreds of people to gather under.
13. Colorful Moth
This multi-colored insect was spotted outside of a person’s house. It is most likely a rosy maple moth — a North American species known for its different neon markings. The moth is downright magical looking.

The cat had to have her fur shaved when she was getting spayed at the vet’s office. That is when they realized that her skin pigment was identical to the markings on her fur. It was a very interesting discovery.

This giant oak tree in Jacksonville, Florida is known as the Treaty Oak. At 250 years old, it is likely the single oldest living thing in the city. Its octopus-like features have caused it to become an important landmark in the area.

Music festivals are an opportunity to let your creative side shine. It’s something that this man understands very well. He made an awesome pair of pants for himself out of all of his previous year’s festival hats.

Can you tell which continent we are looking at in this photo? It turns out, it’s multiple of them. The NASA image shows the sun setting over western Africa and Europe. On the left is the North Atlantic ocean.

When an animal has multicolored eyes, it’s called heterochromia iridum. It’s a stunningly beautiful genetic condition. While there is occasionally an alternative underlying cause, it’s typically harmless and doesn’t result in any other health problems.

This man suffered a nerve injury in his finger. He sliced right through it. Only half of his index finger is able to prune when soaking in water now.

The monk and tiger can be seen sharing the same dish of food. While the monk uses chopsticks to eat, the tiger simply dives right in. They are both good friends and would never think about harming each other.

If you stripped the human heart of all its fat and muscle, this is what it would look like. Only the veins and arteries remain. The imagine allows us to see up close how complex the circulatory system really is.

The dead tree branch revealed a stunning pattern when it broke off. Instead of being a clean break, it left all sorts of visible square shards. It actually looks like some sort of wooden crystal.

Here we have a photo of the NASA space shuttle Endeavour taken during its final mission. The shuttle can be seen soaring above the clouds en route to the International Space Station, leaving a giant plume of smoke in its wake.

This stack of gold bars is worth a shocking $1.6 Billion dollars. We would have expected it to take up much more space than this. Each bar must be valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars.
32. Tiny Concert
This entire four-member band plays on a stage that is only one square meter in area. It’s a pretty impressive feat. It looks like they could fall off at any moment, but luckily, it would only be a short drop if they did.
33. Nature’s Eye
Here we have an old tree stump that looks surprisingly similar to an eyeball. We’ve all seen the trees come alive in movies like The Lord of the Rings, but this is pretty much the real-life version. The forest is always watching.
34. Rainy Day
The water droplets on the leaf of the plant fill in every gap of the jagged edges. The symmetry of both sides makes it looks so beautiful. It’s hard to believe that the drops formed around the leaf so precisely.
35. Collared Lizard
This incredible collared lizard was found in the wilds of Mexico. It’s a stunning specimen. The blue colors are so bright and brilliant.
36. Patched Leaf
It’s not an illusion. The spider actually decided to patch up this random hole in the leaf. There wasn’t a lot of room for its web, but that’s sort of the point. The unsuspecting insects will crawl right into it.
37. Weird Weather
On one side of the sky, there is a rainbow. On the other side, a massive storm rages. It’s such an unusual juxtaposition. Mother Nature can’t decide what she wants to do.

“When the sun hits my MacBook just right, you can see the apple through the screen,” explains the man. Computer screens are so incredibly thin these days. Every year, the technology just keeps getting better and better.
39. Fish Snack
Here we have a similar occurrence with a pelican eating a fish. The skin around its mouth is so thin that we can actually see a fish’s silhouette inside. The sun hit the beak at the perfect angle.
40. Snapping Turtle Sighting
It would be easy to mistake this huge snapping turtle for a rock. That’s how big it is! If you weren’t being careful, you could swim by it in the water and end up losing a toe.
41. Split Tree
Part of the tree thinks that it’s autumn already. A storm caused it to split into two pieces The left half of the tree is randomly changing colors, meanwhile, the other half is still pretending that everything is fine.
42. Tornado Of Birds
When thousands of birds gather together, chaos often ensues. These ones formed into a massive bird volcano. The flock just started flying around in a big funnel shape in total unison.
43. Bush Plane Parking
In Alaska, often the only way to access the backcountry is by bush plane. There are a lot of them in the state and they all have to park somewhere. We love how each of the planes is completely unique.
44. Strawberry Star
For some weird reason, this strawberry grew in the shape of a star. It didn’t fully form properly. The genes for the petal and fruit got switched around in some sort of strange mutation.
45. Peaceful Lake
There is an entire world growing underneath this remote mountain lake. The water is so clear that you can see all of the aquatic life. Coupled with the mountain reflections in the background, it makes for a stunningly beautiful image.
46. Storm Damage
The lightning really took a toll on this tree. It cracked the tree in half, leaving a smoldering pile of embers in its wake. It’s amazing how much power can be generated in a single lightning strike.
47. Spice Scoop
The man wiped the measuring spoon on his shirt first before scooping out some spices. This was the result. Due to the static electricity, the spices got very excited.
48. Hole In One
Here we have a good example of how lightning radiates out through the ground when it strikes. It hit the flag on the golf course and left a crazy pattern on the ground in its wake. It was a very lucky shot.
49. Eastern Asian Pheasant
It’s one of the coolest birds in the world. He even has little blue horns to match his blue collar. Pheasant species in North America just can’t compare to their foreign counterparts.
50. Frog Belly
This is what a frog looks like from the underside. In the photo, it is stuck to the glass of the aquarium. Its squishy pink feet and toes are all folded up into its body.
51. Colorful Study
Researchers used colored plumes of smoke to measure the vortices created as passing jets flew by. It helped them to see exactly what the air was doing. The current caused the smoke to swirl around, creating a beautiful tie-dye show.
52. Hummingbird Feather
We knew hummingbirds were tiny, however, this photo gives us a whole new perspective. The feather is so small. It is barely visible on the tip of the person’s finger.
53. Pringle’s Collection
Some people collect stamps. Some people collect coins, and others, well… others collect Pringles cans. Pretty soon, the collection is going to end up taking over their whole house. Is it the only thing that they ever eat?
54. Melting Ice
Winter flooding from the nearby pond caused a new layer of ice to form several feet off the ground. After it melted, parts of it remained suspended from the trees in little sheets. It looked like it was floating in thin air.
55. Spiky Bamboo
“The new bamboo shoots look like something sinister is emerging from the ground,” explains the photographer. It is like an image from a science fiction movie. Any second now, a giant monster is going to come ripping up out of the ground.
56. Floating Trees
Over time, the wall of this hotel collapsed, or at least part of it did. Now the trees from the landscaping are trapped in their original compartments. However, no soil is left underneath them.
57. Strawberry Sprouts
The seeds of the strawberry started sprouting out of the berry itself. They couldn’t even wait until the berry was in the ground first. The real question though is if it is still edible?
58. Shiny Beetle
This unique ladybug was born half-red, half-gold. That’s what we thought at first glance. However, upon further research, it turns out that it is technically an Asian lady beetle. They are an invasive species in many parts of the world.
59. Solar Hat
This hat comes with a solar-powered fan attached to the brim. The genius idea is sure to make the inventor very rich someday. You can block out the sun while also keeping cool.
60. Impressive Snow Structure
The way the snow is hanging off of the roof looks impossible. How could it not just collapse in the center? The snow formed a little cave that you could hide out underneath.
61. Giant Moth
Its hard to tell from the photo, however, this is the largest species of moth in North America. It is a Cecropia moth. It’s about as big across as a banana.
62. Snake Stomach Content
They did an X-ray of a python and found that there was a little baby alligator inside. It had swallowed the poor guy whole! The snake didn’t even bother to chew it up.
63. Divided Flower
One side is yellow and the other side is pink. It’s split into two distinct sections because of codominant gene expression. It caused the petals to express themselves in different colors.
64. Floral Raincoat
When this raincoat gets wet, a floral pattern appears out of nowhere. It’s super fun. If you showed it to a little kid, they would probably think that it is magic.
65. Rocket Cam
Believe it or not, this used to be a camera. It was capturing some footage of the SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket launch when the heat caused it to completely melt. Luckily, it was being operated remotely.
