Dads…they love their children to the moon and back. And yes, they set rules and serve as protectors. But as humans, they also do things that leave their kids shaking their heads in disbelief. As these 43 photos show, some dads outdadded even themselves.
1. Lesson learned
If kids would just pay attention, they could learn so much from their dads. Here’s an example. We didn’t say it was a perfect example but an example just the same.
2. He’s cool
Perhaps this dad was trying to be cool. You know, to show that no matter his age, he can be just as trendy as his kids. Okay, while there’s nothing wrong with the white shoes, those white socks are up for debate. We won’t even mention the hat.
3. A subtle hint
When this guy got down on one knee to ask the love of his life to marry him, her dad had this to say. Let’s hope that was a photo-op. If not, those two will have an interesting marriage.
4. Annoying but helpful
You have to admit this would be a big help. But of course, since it was a dad that did this, it’s irritating. At least this person will know the top from the bottom.
5. Was it good?
This dad ate half his sandwich before realizing it still had the wrapper on. It’s hard to tell from this photo if he’s laughing or crying. We just have one question…how did it taste?
6. Like…so yesterday
For all the kids out there. If your dad puts on gladiator sandals like these, hide them the minute he takes them off. Better yet, toss them in the trash and then play dumb.
7. This poor gal
For 21 years, she thought her parents put a lot of thought into naming her. But then, she hears her dad tell this story. She might want to consider changing her name.
8. Drama king
As you can see, women aren’t the only ones who like drama. This dad is probably just being protective of his daughter. Was asking if she was going to be home for dinner that hard of a question?
9. Better than a selfie
While visiting a local fair with this kid, this dad noticed the letter “I” was missing from this sign. So, he improvised. The only problem, he chose a completely different letter and put it at the end.
10. Playground shirt
Why is it when dads take their kids to the park or playground, they always wear the worst tee shirt they have. This one probably dates back to his college years. Time to put Superman to rest.
11. He couldn’t help himself
One individual didn’t have any electricity for a couple of days. So, they complained to their dad. This was his response. While this didn’t fix the problem, it’s pretty awesome.
12. Hopefully, he didn’t share
All this dad was trying to do was take a few panoramic photos of his beautiful daughter. In case you missed it. The operative word here is “trying.” And by the way, she didn’t find this funny.
13. Good communication
It’s super important for kids and their dads to have a good line of communication. And these two did. Unfortunately, neither of them understood what the other one was saying.
14. Time for a new favorite movie
When a dad goes around wearing sunglasses from ancient-old movies like The Blues Brothers, Dirty Harry, or Cobra, it’s time to introduce him to something new. This isn’t the worst thing a dad can do. But it’s also not the best.
15. That wasn’t nice
A daughter sent her dad a photo of her eating a slice of his cake. In turn, he sent her photos of him putting a lock on the refrigerator. After years of teaching her the importance of sharing…oh, the shame.
16. ROFL
Young ladies everywhere…beware. If you have a silly father and you wear false eyelashes, you might get a photo like this. What do you want to bet this dad was voted “class clown” in high school?
17. A little behind the times
Not only did this dad just discover an online payment option but he also digressed in years. For one thing, his son is now a grown man. For another, it looks as though he just got scammed.
18. Um…okay
To all dads, never do this. If you’re going to use a lanyard for anything, wear it around your neck like normal people. And if your sunglasses don’t fit, please just buy another pair. That’ll prevent your kids from dying of embarrassment.
19. Thanks, Dad
This is what happens when one dad got hold of his daughter’s Girls World doll. It seems he thought her makeup was a bit too much. So, he cleaned it off with white spirit.

20. What a nice gesture
To make his daughter feel at home while visiting, one dad showed her all the snacks he bought. We’re thinking he doesn’t spend much time in the kitchen. And that’s probably a good thing.
21. A proud moment
Why is this dad grinning from ear-to-ear? He walked into a liquor store to find his son’s fake ID hanging on the “Wall of Shame.” We’re guessing…like father like son.
22. Special Bond
Sure, this mom meant well but she went a little overboard. In comparison, the father knew just what to do. And as you can see, this irritated the mom. Sorry…it’s nothing personal, just a son and dad bonding thing.
23. That’s corny
While driving through Wyoming, this dad had to stop in the town of Chugwater to do this. And yes, that’s a real town. Heavy sigh.
24. A for effort
This dad was trying to help out around the house and decided to clean the toilet. But someone might want to inform him that a “bath bomb” is for baths…not the toilet. At least it’s pretty and it smells nice.
25. He’s so fluffy
Women can get by wearing just about anything, including oversized coats. But dads? It’s just not cool. If this was your father, you’d probably want to walk on the opposite side of the street.
26. Things that don’t go together
For whatever reason, some dads think tucking a Hawaiian print shirt into khaki pants looks cool. Oh, and don’t forget the boat shoes. This is a perfect example of why men need wives or trendy kids in their lives.
27. Dad jokes
Yes, they’re all really bad. In fact, most are so bad, their kids can’t help but cringe. Here’s one that should never be told…period.
28. Picture perfect
When asked if he wanted his photo included on his bank card as he had before, this dad said yes. Apparently, the bank forgot to tell him they changed things a bit. But rather than having it fixed, he decided to keep it.
29. King of the grill
This guy seems pretty proud of his apron. Of course, if it came from his kids, he wouldn’t want to hurt their feelings. So, smile and pretend all is good.
30. Genius
Every year at Christmas, this dad hands each of his kids $100. But one year, he decided to get creative. While it was a little odd, he did something they won’t ever forget.
31. The difference between Mom and Dad
As kids know, most parents have different roles and responsibilities. Usually, it’s the mom who is more nurturing and keeps tracks of dates. These texts are just one example of why dads shouldn’t be in charge of birthdays.
32. It’s a “dad thing”
We have no idea why, but a lot of dads have keychains that resemble this one. And if asked, they’ll tell you there’s a purpose for each one. We’re not buying it but if it makes them happy, so be it.
33. Lending a helping hand (or head)
Isn’t it nice when a father and son can work together on home projects? When this dad needed assistance, he hollered for his boy to come help. But rather than run all the way downstairs to see what he wanted, he simply stuck his head through a hole in the ceiling.
34. How sweet
This dad has a group chat so he can talk to all his kids at once. Hey, it’s better than sending multiple messages, right? If this is what he has to say, he might not want to text at all.
35. Hanging onto memories
Some dads are perfectly content to use older technology. Even if that means hanging onto an old Nokia phone. But one son convinced his father it was time to upgrade to an iPhone. Reluctantly, he did but thanks to his new phone case, it’s a win-win for both of them.
36. Too good to pass up
Has your dad ever purchased some random thing just because the price was too good to pass up? Well, it seems that’s what this kid’s father did. Hey, a bee suit for only $39.00 is a real bargain.
37. Intentional or accidental?
If this dad likes his son-in-law, then this was an accident. On the other hand, if he’s not too fond of him, we’d consider this intentional. Hopefully, he just got his words mixed up.
38. Keep the phone charged
Most men don’t like to shop, especially when it comes to buying groceries. But this dad came up with a brilliant solution. If he only knew his kids were laughing behind his back.
39. Sticking out like a sore thumb
The next time this guy gets a birthday invitation, he might want to read it twice. Instead of going to a party for someone turning 60, he thought it was a “60s-themed” party. Maybe no one noticed.
40. Time to get up to speed
Just like the man with the Nokia phone, a lot of dads are behind the times from a technology standpoint. This one doesn’t have a cell phone, doesn’t use social media, and doesn’t know how to text. But boy, he wrote his daughter a great email.
41. Nice run?
This dad told his kid he was going for a run. But after stretching on the floor, he fell sound asleep. His son found him this way 30 minutes later. He probably traumatized his child.
42. A mysterious dad
If you went somewhere with your dad and this happened, you might question why. But after hearing him greeted like this three times, you’d have a lot of questions. Is there something he’s keeping a secret?
43. Can’t take them anywhere
Unfortunately, some dads should never go out in public…like this one. First, he probably embarrassed his son. Second, there’s a good chance that everyone who stared at him vapes.
