Some of the best therapy comes from letting loose and dancing your heart out. Little can compare to the feeling one gets from finding a groove and going along with it.
The only thing that could make these moments better is by sharing it with someone you love.
Phil Wright allows students in his choreography class that opportunity.
He teaches dance classes at the Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles, California.
Wright started a segment called The Parent Jam where kids dance alongside their parents or loved one.
Any and everyone is allowed into these classes regardless of their experience and age.
In a recently uploaded video, students get groovy to the classic hit, “It Takes Two” by Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock.
The song has been covered by various artists over the years and used in several television and movie productions since it first appeared in 1988.
If you don’t know, now you know!
The video begins with Wright telling his students that the main goal is to have fun.
“This purpose is to only inspire.”
He continued:
“More importantly it’s just to put a smile on everyone’s face.”
They surely achieve this goal. Every parent and child duo perform with bright smiles and confidence! Dancing in front of people in a room and on the internet is nothing sort of challenging but they make it look easy!
The dance routine Wright taught to his students that day was great for two people. Although the routine was the same for everybody, each person got a chance to shine as everyone was given a solo bit.
They were also given a brief moment in the routine to “hype up” their partner. This along with the support of their classmates, who stood in a semi-circle cheering them on, made for some heartwarming moments.
At the end of every routine, the pair embrace to a room of applause.
Right away, it’s evident that everyone is having a blast. The first dance duo appears to be a father and daughter. The two definitely have skills and have no problem keeping up with the other. She clearly gets her dancing genes from him. They’re mesmerizing to watch.
Another great performance was from a young girl and her mother. It was sweet as the mother looked to her young daughter for guidance and inspiration throughout the routine. When it appears that she was unsure of herself, she looked to her daughter who looked back at her with a reassuring, bright smile.
There were no mistakes to be made.
Another performance that stole the show and our hearts was a father and daughter duo.
The young woman is in a wheelchair but she is nothing short of amazing. She spins and smiles throughout the routine while her father seems to be counting and trying to keep up with his daughter. She can’t stop looking to him and laughing as he tries to hit the marks.
In a touching moment, he takes her hand and spins her around in the chair like a princess.
One comment under the video read:
“I am in a wheelchair and seeing the woman dance is so inspiring. I always watch dance videos but I never thought I could be the one dancing. You bring so much joy. T thank you for sharing, I can’t stop crying.”
These dance videos by Wright prove to be both inspiring and uplifting. They bridge any gaps that might exist in the world with something we all can relate to. Music.
