Childhood can be a pretty violent time. There are broken bones and other incidents that leave us with scars we’ll have forever.
That includes the old pencil scar.
Some people have had the misfortune of being stabbed with a pencil.
Whether they stabbed themselves or were stabbed by someone.
Not only does being stabbed with a pencil hurt but it can also leave you with a permenant mark.
Basically, it leaves you with a weird gray tattoo. Sometimes for the rest of your life.
Sometimes a pencil tip can get stuck inside the wound.
And some professionals say there are ways to reduce the appearance of pencil wound marks.
“In order to reduce the amount of tattooing, the wound may be anesthetized and scraped (dermabraded) with the tip of a scalpel blade. It is unwise to excise the entire wound because the resultant scar might be more unsightly than the tattoo,” the National Center for Emergency Medicine Informatics’ website reads.
For some, reason the permanent pencil mark phenomenon is gaining traction.
People are coming together in solidarity online to show off their pencil mark tattoos.
So apparently pencil scarring happens more often than you think.
And people are sharing their “war” or scar stories.
Apparently the fateful day is something people remember forever.
This girl got hers in the third grade while at school.
She walked all the way to the nurse’s office with the pencil still stuck in her hand.
This girl stabbed herself with an ill placed pencil.
So make sure you’re pencils are always properly secured.
Never leave them sticking out of your bag or in places where they can assault you.
It might be wise to invest in a pencil case.
This woman took one wrong step that would be with her for the rest of her life.
It’s another good reminder to always pick up messes and not leave things lying aroun where they shouldn’t be.
Geez! That one looks like hurt real bad. That’s a tough spot. There’s a lot of nerves in between fingers.
Well, it looks like there is some sort of hope for your unwanted pencil tattoo.
This guy has had his for 27 years.
After almost three decades, it’s barely visible.
Hand injuries seem to be the most common.
Probably because your hand is what most often comes into contact with your pencil.
But this guy’s pencil injury takes the case.
This guy says he got frustrated while practicing single digit multiplicatiopn when he was in the third grade.
So, he slammed his head on the table.
Now he has a tattoo that’s been on head for more than 11 years.
But not all pen/pencil wounds are self inflicted.
Some people were assaulted
And they are even naming their assailants on online.
Some people did it to themselves.
And some even did it on purpose.
This woman says she stabbed herself on purpose to “act tough.”
But a lot of people are making peace with their permenant marks.
People are just glad to know that they aren’t the only ones with permenant pencil marks.
Like this guy who tried to retrieve a pencil that rolled away and was attacked by it.
Or this woman who was attacked with her own pen when she was 11.
It was an unfortunate attack but she’s learned to cope.
She’s even learned to forgive.
Some are even welcoming newcomers to the club.
Permenant pencil marks happen everyday.
And there is no end in sight.
People will keep using pencils.
Which means people will keep stabbing themselves or others with them.
Which means people will still be left with permenant marks.
Some people are just referring to the marks at their “first tattoo.”
And that’s a pretty good way of thinking about it.
Other says it’s their “legacy.”
Either way these people are stuck with it for life so they might as well be positive about it.
People are finding comfort in the fact that so many other are relating to their situation.
Some people claim they still have pieces of pencil stuck inside them.
Not sure if that’s the greatest thing.
If you get stabbed by a pencil, you should probably seek medical attention.
And do what you can to reduce the apperance of your “first tattoo.”
