No parent is perfect, but most do their very best. They give as much as they know how of their time, energy, love, unconditional support and financial resources in hopes of giving us the chance to live our very best lives.
To pay them back seems like a nearly impossible task. But one son found a way to do just that.
In an emotional video, reached by over 1 million people, a young man by the name of Ian Harrison records his parents’ reaction when he reveals he’s paid off their debts.
Mr. and Mrs. Harrison sit in a busy restaurant with their son for the holidays. The upbeat music in the background makes an entirely fun ambiance that sets the perfect scene for what their son has up his sleeve.
Sticky notes? How sweet.
They receive a big brown envelope with sticky notes plastered across the front of it. =

Their reaction to the sticky note gift is all laughs making it clear that Ian is the practical joker of the family.
You can hear dad laugh then say,
“Absolutely brilliant.”
They probably thought the post-its, which had some nice things to say about his parents, were the entire gift. Boy were they in for the surprise of a lifetime.
When his parents are done laughing at the “sticky-note” gift, Ian encourages them to peel off all of the post-its for the real gift.
So excitedly mom starts peeling them off one-by-one diligently reading the sweet words he’s written, while dad plows through a bit faster. Suddenly something starts to change in mom’s demeanor.
She doesn’t speak, but looks down at the sheet with her eyebrows furrowed, then her jaw drops. As she gets a closer look, she is trying to make out exactly what the gift is saying.
Dad realizes what’s happened first.
“You’ve really helped us son,”
he says trying to hold back emotion.
Ian can’t hold it any longer waiting for mom to figure it out and he tells her it’s their loan he’s paid off.
Here’s where your tears will start forming. His parents are practically speechless for the rest of the video. Mom starts sobbing in disbelief and out of pure joy.
“I told you I would pay you back one day,”
Ian laughs.
And the rest of the video leaves you just there with Ian and his parents basking in the raw emotion of what just happened. Their son just pulled of what most of us hope to do for our parents someday. Kudos to you Ian. The rest of us want to know how you did it!
