Some girls spend their whole lives dreaming about the day they get to walk down the aisle.
Okay make that most young girls spend their lives dreaming of their big day.
It’s their dream to look like a princess or a queen, slowly walking down the aisle to beautiful music while everyone else looks on and cries.
Chelsie Hill happened to be one of those girls.
And finally, her dreams were realized as the day came when she met the right man that she wanted to marry.
Now all she had to master was the walking down the aisle part and she was determined to do that.
It was easier said than done but this bride was more than determined to do so.
Hill was paralyzed from the waist down in a car accident when she was a high school senior.
“My whole life I had imagined standing eye to eye with my husband on my wedding day.
After my accident, I wasn’t sure if I would ever find someone who truly loved all of me,” she said.
While rolling down the aisle in her wheelchair wouldn’t have made that day any less special, she wanted to walk.
“I want to stress that there’s nothing wrong with sitting down in your chair,” Hill told Insider.
“But for me growing up, I always imagined myself walking down the aisle.”
It is amazing what one can do when you set your mind to it. We need to stop making excuses.
It took Hill all her willpower and discipline to fulfill her dream.
Hill is no stranger to exerting herself physically.
She founded the all-women wheelchair dance team The Rollesttes, which runs women’s empowerment weekends in L.A. for women and children with disabilities.
She decided to dedicate the next few months of her life to learning how to walk.
This was a surprise she planned for her husband on her wedding day.
What a lucky man!
“He didn’t know me when I was walking, so for me, it wasn’t really part of our relationship,” Hill told CBS News.
“I made it seem like I was going to roll down the aisle and roll back.”
Hill’s soon-t0-be husband Jay Bloomfield actually makes wheelchairs for a living and said he fell in love with Hill the moment their eyes met.
That sounds like something out of a rom-com or Disney movie.
It is clear these two are truly meant for each other.
While she had stood up with leg braces and walked around before, doing this with a long heavy dress and not being able to see her legs was a different story.
“So, I had to practice for about six months with the leg braces in order to really know that I could stand there and walk with my eyes forward and not fully at the ground the whole time,” she said.
If you know the feeling of walking in a gym and lifting for the first time, take that feeling and multiply it many times over.
That’s what Hill had to go through.
When the big day came, Hill took her father’s arms and walked down the aisle using a walker to hold her up.
“As soon as I saw Jay, his jaw dropped,” Hill told Insider. “He was just in shock that I was walking because he had no idea.”
There were liters of tears that flowed that day, and maybe you can add yours to theirs.
When Bloomfield turned around to see his bride, he started to weep.
“You blow me away every single day,” he told her when she got to the end of the aisle.
You know a man truly loves a woman when he’s not ashamed to cry for her.
Hill’s wedding video was posted online where it ended up going viral and was viewed more than 4.4 million times.
She deserves all of the love, support, and attention for sure, and even her husband knows he’s blessed to have her.
We get to see the special day as Hill prepares for her big surprise and both the bride and groom are looking pretty excited.
