With the holidays come gatherings, feasts, and of course, presents.
These days, most people do their holiday shopping online to avoid the long lines and waits at the stores.
And that means that there are plenty of packages being delivered and left on porches.
Unfortunately, there are people out there who try and steal those packages away from the owners.
They’re known as package thieves and this is the time of the year when they hit the hardest.
If you’ve got important packages being shipping to your home this holiday season, you may want to find a way to protect them when you’re not at home to receive them.
Security cameras work great and the company, Ring, might be the best security system out there.
If you have one of their security systems set up, a camera will automatically start to record whenever someone approaches the door.
Not only that but, it will also send a notification to your phone so you can see who’s at your house no matter where you’re at.
And maybe the coolest feature of all is that there is a two-way voice feature that allows you to talk to whoever is on your porch from anywhere.
In the video below, you can watch as a pair of package thieves try and steal a package from a porch.
Luckily, the homeowner has a Ring system set up and the camera starts recording when the individuals show up on his porch.
They cut open the package and try to see what is inside.
Meanwhile, the homeowner, who is sitting at work, has received a notification on his phone that someone is at his door.
He pulls out his phone, watches the video, and sees two thieves trying to cut open his package.
He uses the two-way talk feature and yells, “Hey, hey! Hey, get away!”
The two would-be thieves jump to their feet and run off the porch in separate directions.
The video continues to record and catches one of the thieves running back across the sidewalk towards their partner in crime.
Back at the office, the homeowner’s coworkers overhear him yelling at his phone and rush into his office to find out what is wrong.
He tells them about the two thieves that were just at his door, trying to steal his packages.
They are shocked and pleased when he tells them that the thieves ran away from the porch when they heard his voice telling them to get away.
If it hadn’t been for Ring’s two-way talk feature, that package would have been a goner for sure.
And even if the two thieves had run off with it, the camera would have still recorded their faces.
This holiday season, be sure to have some sort of security system set up to protect your packages and home.
