Could anything be more Amerian than living in a giant hot dog?
Most people love a good hot dog. It’s the ideal comfort food.
And any meal could be improved with a hot dog on the side. Of course, some people may look down on those who have sushi with a side of hot dogs, but really, they’re just jealous because they don’t get a hot dog!
But it turns out that hot dogs are more than just fantastic food. They also make ideal places to stay in.
That’s because the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile has been listed on Airbnb. Don’t pretend you have never heard of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, either.
For those who genuinely have no idea of what the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is, then just imagine if a hotdog could be an RV.
The entire thing is one big vehicular salute to hot dogs, inside and out. The entire shape of the outside is, you guessed it, a hot dog. The inside has a ketchup and mustard color scheme.
Outside, there’s a hot dog picnic zone.
The amenities are pretty enticing, too.
There’s an Oscar Mayer roller grill, a hair dryer, shampoo and a fridge full of one food and one food only. That’s right, burgers. Just kidding, the fridge is filled with hot dogs.
And on top of this, any guest that stays in the Wienermobile will also get a welcome kit filled with hot dog accessories.
There’s no indication in the house rules, but it looks like people that book the Wienermobile won’t be able to drive the vehicle around. In that case, is the Wienermobile parked in a beautiful tourist hot spot?
It’s in Evanston, Illinois. Whether that’s a beautiful location is in the eye of the beholder.
The only problem is that it’s fully booked for the foreseeable future. It got listed for $136 per night on Airbnb, and hotdog lovers everywhere were too keen to book this space.
There is now no day in 2019 or 2020 when the Wienermobile is free to be booked.
What’s really crazy, though, is that the vehicle became fully booked less than 24 hours after it was listed as available. It’s pretty apt that fast food gets fast booked.
Some people will look at the space and think that it’s crazy that anyone booked a hot dog car in Evanston, Illinois. After all, the thing doesn’t even have a real bed, just a sofa that turns into a bed.
Clearly, the people that have booked the Wienermobile have done it for bragging rights more than comfort.
So is this all a PR stunt on the part of Oscar Mayer?
Amazingly, even though Oscar Mayer has undoubtedly received lots of free press from this story, the company had nothing to do with this listing.
The owners of the vehicle are listed as “AlexanDog and Jake N’ Bacon.”
They had been driving the Wienermobile across the country for months, but it appears that they’ve finally settled in Evanston and are looking to turn the Wienermobile into a cash cow. As the vehicle has been fully booked, it looks like they’ve achieved that aim.
Sadly, the couple has provided no details of how they came to acquire the unique vehicle. Did they build it, refurbish it or buy it as it was? They haven’t said on their Airbnb listing.
