Whatever happened to optical illusions? For decades they were one of the things that brought people of all ages together to enjoy and discuss. But these days, you only see illusions involving timed photos. Let’s get vintage and give these a try!
1) Harder Than A Maze
You can try following this tube all you want but you’ll never find an end. In fact, you can look at that center bar for ages without figuring out where it ends and where it begins. This one doesn’t get any easier.
2) Crossing Lines
Believe it or not, these lines do not cross! Look closely and you’ll see they are spaces apart just enough to give the illusion. They are drawn like a child would in order to make it look like they intersect.
3) Amazing Paint Job
Here is one I can’t figure out. This isn’t a hallway, it’s actually a really awesome paint job. I would love to see what they do to the top because the bottom is almost more than my eyes can handle.
4) Just Two Circles
The more you look at this, the more confusing it becomes. Look at the top, the bottom, and each side, but it won’t do you any good. But don’t give up, the solution will be on the next slide!
5) For My Next Trick
Nothing to see here but a circle inside a circle. They are not interlocked like those brain teasers or magicians rings. As you can see, these two circles are completely separate. It’s simply the clarity and fade that makes them appear interlocked.
6) Such Colorful Circles
These circles look pink, green, orange, and every other color. But they are actually all yellow. The lines on them and behind them are colorful but the circles themself are just yellow. Look between the cracks to see!
7) The Closer You Get
The closer you get to something, the tougher it is to see it. This is true in many situations, this one included. Just take a step back and look at it from a different perspective to see just how close you were before!
8) Spot Them All Together
There’s gotta me some life lesson to learn here. You can’t see all of the dots at the same time, no matter how hard you try to. You can probably see most of them, but there’s always at least one that gets left out.
9) Red Or Blue?
Maybe someone on a bomb disposal team would have an eye for the red and blue wires. But what about you? Which one is connected to the black line? One wrong choice and it will blow. The answer is on the next slide!
10) Did You Guess Right?
It may have looked like the blue line was connected but it was the red one all along. This isn’t a trick, it’s a popular illusion that has fooled millions of people so don’t feel too bad.
11) It’s All Squares Here
What shape do you see here? Circles? Squares? Most people can only spot the squares, but maybe you can see a circle or two. All circles will be revealed on the next slide!
12) There Were Sixteen
You may have seen one or two but if they disappear you won’t be able to see the rest. There were actually sixteen circles that only appear to those who are worthy. Did you make the cut this time?
13) How Many Black Dots?
Although your eyes really want there to be black dots on this image, there are only white ones. Whichever one you are looking at is true to color but the rest are playing tricks on you. Your eyes can be convincing when they want their way.
14) Can You Catch Up?
All of the squares are the same size, all the lines are straight, and all the tiles are parallel. Figure this one out if you can but don’t get your hopes up. This is about as confusing as it gets.
15) Scroll Up And Down
Although this jiggles a little on its own, it gets crazy when you scroll up and down. Especially on desktop! I believe this square has anxiety because this isn’t a gif and it still can’t hold still.
16) Which Nuns Are The Smallest?
There are three sets of nuns here. This popular illusion has been debated for quite some time. Where do you stand? Are the nuns at the back the smallest or the biggest? Find out on the next slide.
17) They Are The Same
With illusions, when in doubt, say that they are all the same. Whether it be lines, shapes, or nuns! That’s the case in this illusion and many others. This one can really get to you even after the fact.
18) They Even Move
These lines are weird. They are slanting, and they move when you scroll up and down. But something is off. You have thirty seconds to figure it out before you go to the next slide.
19) Ding! Ding! Ding!
That’s right! They are all straight lines. Although they appeared to be mobile and falling, they are actually perfectly still and straight. Your brain wants them to match up so it keeps trying to do so.
20) Better Out Than In
Which way is this corner pointing? Or is it not a corner at all and is infact a box that is concave? I’m not sure if there’s a real answer but a lot of people are arguing about it so that’s always fun.
21) What A Mesmerizing Spiral
This spiral looks amazing! But there’s a secret that you don’t know about it yet. Spend a minute trying to figure it out before looking at the answer on the next slide. You will be shocked!
22) The Tiniest Spiral
Because the center is spiraling, your brain takes shortcuts and assumes the rest of it is spiraling too. But the truth is that the rest of it is a series of circles. That background sure does help the illusion too.
23) Center Of The Sun
If you could make it to the center of the sun without burning to a crisp then I have a feeling this is what you’d encounter. It won’t stop moving and it makes one feel uneasy, yet it’s so beautiful that you can’t look away.
24) Again With The Gradients
This bar in the center of this image is all one color. There is no shading or gradient, just a simple grey bar. Try covering the outside to see the true color. It’s the outside that’s trying to fool you.
25) Number Of The Day
Can you see what number is hiding here? The longer you look at it, the harder it is to see it. Most people see the number five while some see a six after a while. If you shake your phone or scroll fast, you can see it clearly.
26) Wonky Squares
All these tiny squares on squares must be there for a reason, but what is that reason? This illusion takes some time to get used to but once you see it, you won’t look back! Find out why on the next slide.
27) Straight As A Rod
That’s right! These lines are all straight and your eyes are now angry that they couldn’t figure it out themself. Those little squares are there to divert your attention and play with you. They pull part of the image in and part of it out.
28) Zig-Zags Or Curves?
Some people see a zig-zag pattern while others see a curvy pattern. But which one is the truth? Do you see both? The answer to this puzzle is on the next slide and you won’t believe the truth.
29) They’re All Curved
For some reason, our eyes want to see zig-zagged patterns here but all that we get are curved lines. It initially looks like alternating lines before but they are all the same. This solution just does not satisfy.
30) Only One Gradient
The only gradient here is the big picture. Otherwise, the squares are flat and one solid color. It’s hard to see it that way but it’s true. Each individual square is its own color without any processing.
31) This Isn’t Moving
It will probably be impossible to convince your eyes that this isn’t moving. Your brain knows the truth but it can’t process it. Your eyes keep on lying and it’s hard not to believe them. But really, this isn’t moving.
