Every now and then, you’ll see a relationship that’s truly special. Something that can endure the ages – love that lasts a lifetime.
For one Ecuadorian couple, the love spark’s always been there.
It was there 75 years ago, and it’s there now.
Meet Waldramina Maclovia Quinteros Reyes and Julio Cesar Mora Tapia from Quito, Ecuador.
They’re not like most couples. Not at all.
In fact, they’ve been married for 79 years!
Their marriage has lasted longer than most people live! That’s impressive.
So what’s their story? Every great romance has an incredible story, of course!
Theirs is no exception.
They tied the knot on February 7 of 1941.
About 80 years ago, the young romantics fell in love during Waldramina’s school vacation.
They’ve been an item ever since, overcoming all obstacles the world’s hurled their way.
When they first met, their families objected against the romance. But that wasn’t going to stop them.
“It was not easy because our relatives did not have a good relationship, but with time and patience, we were able to unite them, and we became an example and the best reference for the younger generations.”
Their love continued to grow, blossoming into the resilient flower we see today.
In fact, their wedding was a secret ceremony.
They’ve been breaking the rules from the start!
The couple’s fantastic story recently went viral. Now, their lasting love’s available for everyone to see.
They were just recognized by Guinness World Records.
Julio and Waldramina are now the world’s oldest married couple.
To put it another way, they have the oldest combined age of any married couple on the planet.
There’s a total of 214 combined years between them.
The secret’s turned into a wonderful example for the rest of the world.
The greatest things in life endure the test of time. Their love’s like an impenetrable rock.
This rock’s seen everything – a world war, the Cold War, the first lunar landing, and now, a global pandemic.
What’s their secret?
They’ve had the pleasure of sharing their wonderful lives for so long! Some people belong together.
When they were young, they were both teachers. Now, they’re contently retired, snug in the loving embrace of their family.
They’re fans of cinema and large family dinners.
Well, that’s perfect.
They have 5 children, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren!
They consider their family their greatest achievement. All 5 of their immediate children graduated from college, something Julio and Waldramina are incredibly proud of.
Despite initial hardships, Julio and Waldramina’s lives have been filled with love and success.
As the world changes, their love remains unphased. Through thick and thin, they’ve always had each other.
Nothing’s changed, after all these years.
Now, they can reap the love they’ve invested in their flourishing family.
They’ve always had so much love to give, and they still do. Their relationship’s truly inspiring.
Not even the coronavirus can slow them down.
These days, they’re getting along fine with the help of immediate family.
They haven’t seen extended family in a while, but they’re remaining patient until they can. Hopefully soon.
Through their lives, the seeds of their original secret have blossomed into a beautiful, caring family.
Now, Julio’s 110 and Waldramina’s 104.
