Whatโ€™s โ€œsoul line dancingโ€?

According to NPR::

โ€œSoul line dancing โ€“ like country line dancing โ€“ is really just choreographed dance moves that you do in a group, without a partner. The Electric Slide is a classic example. The โ€˜soulโ€™ part comes from the music used โ€” like R&B, hip-hop, soul and contemporary hits.โ€

One gentleman in her soul dancing class went viral for all the right reasons. He is INTO it!

Dance for fitness

Terri Lipman, a professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania, has been collecting data on community soul line dancing and her research shows that it gets heart rates pumping hard enough to count as moderate exercise!

Not only that, but it also gives participants a sense of community, which can improve mental health too.

While itโ€™s predominantly practiced in Black communities, anyone can do it. And in the Bay Area where Pam teaches, you can see that the classes are diverse in terms of ethnicity and age.

Her typical clientele is middle-aged Black women โ€“ but itโ€™s the sassy white guy that steals the show. And itโ€™s pretty clear that the ladies are letting him have the limelight.

Set to the song โ€œSo In Love,โ€ by and Jill Scott and Anthony Hamilton, the dancers start grooving and we immediately see how this gentleman earned his place front and center.

โ€œMy man up front is representing!!!! Excellent.. one for the class!โ€ exclaimed a commenter.

He really does have the moves!

For being โ€œrecorded on January 25, 2012, using a Flip Video camera,โ€ the video quality isnโ€™t all that bad โ€“ though we wouldnโ€™t mind a remake!

Keep your eyes on the whole front row since theyโ€™re the ones who are really getting their grooves on.

Our gentleman friend has got the rhythm and heโ€™s not afraid to let loose and feel the flow. And why would he be? If youโ€™re going to go to a dance class every week, thereโ€™s no reason to hold back. Thereโ€™s no holding back in soul dancing!

Viewers went wild for his performance:

โ€œIโ€™ve watched this video at LEAST 10 TIMES! Sir in the frontโ€ฆyou are absolutely workinโ€™ it! Love this dance and the song is one of my FAVS! Awesome job everyone!!โ€
