Learning to write the alphabets always starts with practicing how to trace lines and being able to control the pencil so it stays on the line. By staying within those dotted lines, we were able to eventually write our names way back in elementary school.

While this is something that an elementary student will find difficult, we expect that as a person grows older, being able to stay within the lines and designated areas for certain things is something that we get accustomed to. When someone is old enough to get a driver’s license, we naturally expect them to know the difference between one area from another, and part of it is knowing where to park properly.

Unfortunately, there are still some people who think they are entitled to park their cars wherever and whatever way they want to, even if that meant parking past the lines or worse, parking on a space meant for the handicapped.

It’s a good thing that the police department at Southlake, Texas came up with something that will not only remind the parking violators of the rules but something that could also keep their creativity alive.

It’s a simple way to address the issue, but one that will surely make its mark in the violators’ minds.

Instead of issuing a parking ticket alone, the police department added a page wherein violators can practice how it is to stay within the lines by means of coloring a photo of the department’s badge. What a low-key but sassy way of telling people how to follow the rules, right?

For the Southlake police force, simply fining the parking violators may not be enough. They have to learn their lesson about parking the proper way. This move is their response and we think it’s absolutely genius!

“We noticed you had a little trouble staying in the lines when you parked next to a handicapped space… maybe if you practice coloring our patch and staying in the lines here, it could help you avoid citations in the future,” the police warn in their coloring page.

The Southlake police department backed their epic coloring page aka parking fliers with a Twitter post that encouraged people to drive and park in a kind manner.

The police department’s way of reprimanding violators and reminding them how to do things the right way is what the world needs. Instead of warning people sternly, they realized that making things sassy will make a bigger impact.

People online found their unusual strategy hilarious but definitely effective in making people remember. The Halton City Police Department could not keep themselves from sending a funny reaction to Southlake police’s post.

A lot of people found Southlake police’s response to bad parking as a really refreshing way to handle the violators. Some people appreciate the police department’s new way of addressing the parking violation issue because they have handicapped loved ones.

Sometimes, when looking them in the eye and telling violators directly that they did something wrong doesn’t work, opting for another way that’s a bit more subtle but still hits the mark might just do the trick.

Southlake police did just that and we can’t say we’re not impressed! Sometimes, a little bit of sass can go a long way.
