A loud long holler of โday-oh!โ doesnโt always mean Queenโs Hammer to Fall.
Sometimes, itโs a lip sync challenge to brighten everyoneโs day.

A video went viral after PIO John Lacy strolled from his office and through the neighborhood, yodeling the value of hard work and the rest that comes along with it.
It all starts at Officer Lacyโs desk.
He lip-syncs a long โday-oh!โ much to his officematesโ confusion and surprise. They all turned to the officer who, in turn, continued the challenge.

Then, from his desk, he walked from office to office, bullpen to bullpen.
Along the way, he takes in other working men stuck behind stacks of papers and in front of the computer screen.

As Officer Lacy continued his conga line, he took in more and more people โ from fellow officers, administrative staff, and other city officials.
But he didnโt stop there!
He drove down to town as he continued to sing Harry Belafonteโs rendition of The Banana Boat Song. He stopped to convince a highway patrol to come with him.

He also stopped by the local pool.
He even sang and danced with the construction workers for their public works department.
He also featured a local childrenโs attraction, the Deanna Rose Childrenโs Farmstead.

He also included the courageous and awesome folks from the cityโs public safety unit, together with their vehicles and members of their emergency response teams.
People all over the world tremendously enjoyed the performance!
The song โDay-Oโ is also known as The Banana Boat Song. It is a traditional Jamaican folk song that portrays the hard dayโs work of a port worker who loaded bananas on ships throughout the night.

The line โdaylight come and we want go homeโ shows that daybreak signals the end of their shifts.
This song became famous as Jamaica started becoming one of the biggest exporters of bananas.
Several artists covered this song like The Fontane Sisters, Steve Laurence, Shirley Bassey, Sarah Vaughan, Harry Belafonte, and now, Overland Parkโs very own Officer Lacy.
People praised Overland Parkโs participation and their service to the community.
โPolice officers all over the world do an excellent job.โ Said one commenter, โI have to commend Officer Lacy for his brilliant execution of the lip sync challenge. I have watched it every day since I have discovered it.โ
