Officer Ryan Tillman, a beloved school resource officer at Don Lugo High School in California, found a special way to say goodbye to the students.

Tillman, who had formed a strong bond with the students during his time at the school, was set to leave his position after receiving a well-deserved promotion to Chino Police Corporal.

However, instead of a typical tearful farewell, Tillman decided to make his exit unforgettable.

In collaboration with the school’s principal and the dance team, Officer Tillman orchestrated a surprise performance during a school assembly.

Reflecting on his choice to dance, he explained to NBC Los Angeles,

“I wanted to go out with a bang, so I was like, what better way to go out than with doing a dance.”

He wasn’t just bidding farewell – he was leaving a lasting impression with a lighthearted and memorable moment.

As the assembly unfolded, the gymnasium buzzed with anticipation as Tillman stood among the dance students.

The first notes of Lil Mama’s hit song “Lip Gloss” echoed through the room, and with that, the dance began.

While the idea of an officer dancing in front of a crowd of high school students might seem risky, Officer Tillman proved that he had more than just law enforcement skills—he could move!

The students went wild as Tillman showed off his dance skills.

Another school resource officer left a comment on YouTube, praising Tillman’s bravery:

“I am also an SRO, but I could NEVER get up there in front of staff and students and dance. But good on you for doing it. Most people don’t understand the balance of the relationships SROs have with young people at their schools.”

The performance wasn’t a one-hit wonder either.

Midway through the routine, the music shifted to MC Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This,” and Officer Tillman stepped into a time machine, bringing some iconic 90s dance moves to the stage.

He expertly mimicked MC Hammer’s shuffle, earning extra points with the crowd.

The audience’s cheers grew louder, and the energy in the room soared.

Tillman continued to steal the spotlight as he transitioned through different songs and dance routines.

It wasn’t just about the dancing, though—he managed to keep up with the other performers while fully dressed in his police gear.

One viewer on YouTube summed it up perfectly: “This is awesome! This is what we all need to see more of.”

He explained that his goal was to show appreciation for the students and staff and to “shine a positive light” on police officers, as reported by NBC Los Angeles.

Tillman is dedicated to improving community relations.

He founded the organization Breaking Barriers United, and is focused on “bridging the gap between law enforcement and the communities they serve.”

The organization’s mission is to promote transparency and build strong connections between officers and the public.
