While one can deny the concept of fate, there are just moments when things fall into place.

Tricia Seaman was working as an oncology nurse in Pinnacle Health’s Community General Campus in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, when Tricia Somers was placed under her care.

The first time they met, the two instantly hit it off. Seaman even joked that she’d remember Somers easily because they have the same name and the same initials. Little did she know, she’ll remember Somers as the woman who changed her life forever.

Somers came under Seaman’s care after undergoing a procedure.

Right off the bat, Seaman left an impression on Somers that she’d take with her for the remained of her days.

“She came in and I just felt this overwhelming feeling of comfort,” Somers said, as quoted by ABC. “It was strange. I never had that feeling before and I thought she is going to take care of me. She is the one.”

Since then, their relationship blossomed and thrived.

Even when Somers left Seaman’s care, the nurse would often stop by to see Somers to check how she was holding up.

Through their conversations, Seaman learned that Somers had a difficult life. She’s a single mom who escaped an abusive husband. All she wanted was a fresh start and a quiet life but life had other plans. She found out she has cancer.

But through all of the pain, one thing anchored Somers.

Seaman learned that her patient has a son – Wesley. The nurse described Wesley as the center of Somers’ world.

Then, one day, when Somers got back her test results, she asked Seaman for something that she’d never expected in a million years.

Somers asked Seaman if she would take Wesley under her care after she passes on.

As fate would have it, Seaman and her husband wanted to have another child, but because of medical complications, she wouldn’t be able to conceive.

Seaman said to ABC that she didn’t know how to answer the question. She thanked Somers for even considering her but she also suggested that the mother think about it more. However, Seaman’s heart had already said yes.

When Seaman talked to her husband about this, he figured they should do so much more.

When Somers became so weak, Seaman didn’t just take Wesley in. She also took Somers into their home. Seaman shared that at that point, Somers fell apart and broke down because of the love and compassion she received from Seaman who was once a stranger to her.

Somers passed away. However, she had already taken care of the paperwork for Seaman and her husband to be Wesley’s legal guardians.
