There are lots of hard challenges you face in life but hopefully, if you have great loved ones and neighbors nearby, they can help out when you least expect it.

Kedral “Keke” Thornton had been battling breast cancer during the coronavirus pandemic. Not an ideal situation to say at the very least but despite all of the hardships, Keke considers herself to be blessed. And that is partially because of her wonderful neighbors.

Keke is a mother who lives in Georgia and when the day came for her final round of chemo she was very lucky to not only get support from her whole family, but also her community.

What was once a final trip to the doctor turned into a beautiful celebration throughout the neighborhood.

On April 14, Keke left her home for chemotherapy and stumbled upon something she definitely was not expecting: a line of neighbors waiting for her outside, ready to cheer her on.

While wearing masks and respecting each other’s space, Keke’s neighbors held up balloons and celebratory signs for the fighter. One neighbor, Ernest Ross, even captured some of the beautiful moment live via Facebook.

Keke had recently planned a fundraiser called Pink Out. While she was fighting her own battle, she was selflessly trying to support organizations that helped breast cancer patients with food, paying their medical bills, and supplies. In honor of the fundraiser, some of Keke’s neighbors went the extra mile and wore pink to her home to celebrate.

So not only were her neighbors supporting Keke but they were also supporting all of the other patients who were going through similar things.

Naturally, battling breast cancer in the middle of the pandemic is not easy. There have been many challenges for Keke and her family but even so, they say that they felt great joy on this day.

“My wife’s chemo send-off was a beautiful sight with all the bad stuff going on in the world,” Keke’s husband, James, told WSB-TV.

Every challenge is easier with just a little bit of support.

Now, Keke is gearing up to start radiation for the next six weeks. She has not passed the finish line just yet, but we bet it sure will feel a little bit easier with her knowing that she has an entire community behind her back. It may not be over, but she is definitely not going through it all alone.

“It is a different time but we found a way to support our friend,” Keke’s neighbor, Ross, said while recording the moment on Facebook live. “So we are all excited,” he continued.

Ross also brought his daughter along, who was donning an adorable pink pullover hoodie.

It is definitely a strange time we are living in. When challenges are plopped on top of a worldwide virus, it can feel impossible to win. But instead of being deterred away from their friend, Keke’s neighbors simply found another way to show up.
