There are some musical artists that are so talented their performances take your breath away. Now imagine intertwining some of these gifted artists into one show. The result is like no other.

During the CBC special “Season of Song: The Canadian Tenors and Friends,” viewers were given the chance to see an incredible combination act that’s left people spellbound.

The audience was in for a treat that evening when Charice, David Foster, and The Canadian Tenors joined forces to perform a riveting performance.

It was a gift itself to have such incredible musicians come together for the holiday special. But the fact that “The Prayer” was on the song list took it to another level.

The Canadian Tenors were extremely honored to have both Charice and David Foster (who co-wrote “The Prayer”) join them for a performance. Their style of music is called “operatic pop,” which mixes the genre of pop with classical.

Canadian Tenor member Victor spoke highly of Foster – saying, “He’s an extraordinary musician – a gift to Canada.”

Victor also had compliments for the young artist Charice. He said:

“If you want to see a stadium explode, you just throw Charice on stage.”

Let the show begin.

Foster was seated on a piano for the performance, with other musicians and their instruments surrounding him in the background. As they began to play “The Prayer” the sound that filled the room was nothing less than magical.

Finally, it was time for Charice to take the spotlight.

If you’ve ever been curious what the voice of an angel really sounds like – just listen to a Charice. Her talent emerged with every beautiful note, singing:

“I pray you’ll be our eyes – and watch us where we go. And help us to be wise – in times when we don’t know.”

But that was just the beginning of the goosebumps.

When it was time for the Italian solo, The Canadian Tenors stepped in. Taking turns they sang the lyrics with power and grace – only to be joined once again by Charice.

The skills of all the artists are mindblowing. During the show, they’d go back and forth singing in English and Italian, and also pop and classical.

Even watching the video, you can feel the energy of the chilling performance. Some even admit that the act brings them to tears.

As of now, their rendition of “The Prayer” has been viewed nearly 6.5 million times on YouTube.

People shared their reactions in the video’s comments. Angelique wrote:

“This is the very very best combination of the very very best singers. Absolutely BREATHTAKING!”

Grace said:

“OH MY GOSH! How is it that I have never seen this! Seriously, through the entire song I just had my mouth open with tears in my eyes. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!”

“The Prayer” was written by David Foster, Alberto Testa, Carole Bayer Sager, and Tony Renis. Canadian artist Celine Dion originally recorded the English solo, while Andrea Bocelli sang a version in Italian.

A duet of “The Prayer” from the two artists hit the charts. It even won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, receiving other award nominations as well.

Although the original duet between Dion and Bocelli is the most well-known, other artists have beautifully covered “The Prayer” as well. However, it’s not an easy one to cover by any means – which is easy to see.
