Now meatballs are a favorite in my household, but the following recipe is a variation on the classic. Rather than just cook meatballs, mix it up and add mozzarella cheese. Stuffed meatballs are perfect appetizers, and they go great with your favorite dipping sauce!
Ingredients:
- 3 mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- marinara sauce
Directions:
Chop cheese sticks into half inch pieces. Then place on a plate and chill in freezer until ready to use.
Add ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic, and onion powder together in a mixing bowl. Then add Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix the ingredients together using your hands until it’s evenly mixed.
Remove the cheese from the freezer. Scoop out a bit of the ground beef and roll it into a ball using your hands.
Then place a cheese stick inside the meatball. Place each finished stuffed meatball in a slow cooker.
Cover the meatballs and cook on low for 3-4 hours or high for 1-2 hours. Be sure the meat is cooked through and no longer pink.
Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce!
