I’ve always wondered how people don’t end up dating after shooting a movie together. Keep it professional? Please. How can you keep things professional when you are in a steamy carriage in the heart of the Titanic with Leonardo Dicaprio? It’s just not possible.
As a result, however, some relationships have gotten a bit dicey from on-screen events. Check out these 17.
1. Cleopatra
Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor starred in Cleopatra and they REALLY didn’t like each other. They called each other names and truly didn’t like one another… that was until their first on screen kiss. They literally couldn’t stop and when their spouses found out, their marriages were done. They ended up marrying each other!
2. Mr. & Ms. Smith
It’s pretty clear that this movie was at fault for Brad and Jennifer’s marriage ending. Well, it’s not clear but it’s likely. After shooting, Brad and Jennifer divorced and guess who Brad’s next fling-turned-marriage was with? Boom, Brangelina.
3. To Have and Have Not
Humphrey Bogart and Mayo Methot were married, but after rumors surfaced of him and Lauren Bacall surfaced, it was finished. They met on set and had an age difference of 25 years.
4. The Outlaw Josey Wales
Clint Eastwood isn’t immune from relational drama. He was married to Maggie Johnson during the filming of the movie, but started an affair with Sondra Locke that ended up with the two moving in together. It didn’t work out.
5. Days of Thunder
Tom and his wife at the time, Mimi, didn’t make it through the movie Days of Thunder. Tom was already in trouble because of other flings, but the affair he had with Nicole Kidman was just the final straw. One month later and the marriage with Mimi was kaput.
6. By the Sea
Oh look, it’s Brad again. His marriage from the movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith was upset from a new movie. Apparently, the movie brought out a dark side in Angelina’s personality that caused issues in the marriage.
7. The Misfits
Marilyn Monroe had her marriage with Arthur Miller disrupted when they were on set for The Misfits together. For Monroe, her husband was too much and was sexist and annoying.
8. Daredevil
It seems like this is rather appropriate right now! Jennifer Garner and Scott Foley ended their marriage after Daredevil. It seems that Ben Affleck was just too spicy as a blind superhero for Jennifer to resist.
9. Marey Shelley’s Frankenstein
The marriage ruined? Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson. Kenneth seemed to be unable to conquer his feelings for his co-star, Helena Bonham Carter, during filming. Soon after the release, the new relationship was underway and the old one was out.
10. Green Lantern
The famously silly pair, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively didn’t get started until Ryan donned the Green Ring! Ryan was married to Scarlett Johansson at the time and Blake was dating Penn Badgley, but shortly after filming and the two were together (and still are)!
11. Dream House
This movie has TWO destroyed relationships! Rachel Weisz had been in a relationship with Darren Aronofsky for 10 years and Daniel Craig was engaged to Satsuki Mitchell. Nobody claims that the movie was why they all ended things, but it is really the only common denominator.
12. Stage Beauty
Billy Crudup and Mary Lousie Parker were together for eight years when Billy started filming Stage Beauty. He left her for his co-star, Claire Danes, despite Mary being pregnant at the time.
13. House of Wax
This was a pretty popular event, so you may already know it! Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush were married and Paris Hilton and Nick Carter were dating. Nick went on television to announce that Paris had hooked up with Chad during filming and ended his own relationship, as well as Chad Murray’s.
14. Northern Lights
Once again, two marriages blown from this movie. First up, we have Eddie Cibrian and Brandi Glanville and second, we have LeAnn Rimes and Dean Sheremet. Eddie ended up cheating on his wife with LeAnn Rimes and subsequently divorced their spouses. They ended up getting married, to boot!
15. Titanic
This one wasn’t about actors, but producers! James Cameron and Linda Hamilton were only married for nine months when it all fell apart. Cameron ended up falling for Suzy Amis and they got married not long after.
16. Proof of Life
Russel Crowe was a homewrecker on this set! Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid were married until news of Russel and Meg cuddling up on set ended things. For once on the list, however, the fling doesn’t seem to have lasted.
17. Mind Over Murder
Once again, two marriages down the drain in this movie. Tori Spelling and Charlie Shanien were the first, and Dean McDermott and Mary Jo Eustace the second. Tori and Dean were already married when they met on set and ended up eloping in Fiji. They spend the night together the same day they met!
