The holidays are a joyous time of year when family members from all corners of the world are able to reunite and share time together. We can all relate to that anticipatory moment when we are finally reunited with a loved one we haven’t seen in a while, and this reaction is just priceless.
When Florida mother, Rekita Lee, walked into her parent’s home just a few weeks ago, little did she know that she had a major surprise waiting for her.
There, in her hometown of Daytona Beach, her son, 20-year-old Tre’Vaughn Lee, was surprising her and returning home for the holidays, after being deployed to Japan with the Marine Corps for over a year ago.
In the emotional reaction, seen in the video below, Rekita is overjoyed as she screams in excitement when she sees her beloved son.
This reunion meant everything to the pair, as Rekita was unable to visit Tre’Vaughn, in Japan, on their latest family trip. Until this moment, it had been over twelve months since Rekita had seen her (not so baby) boy.
“I was totally surprised,” Rekita confessed, “I have never been surprised in my life because I’m nosy. I literally thought I was going to have a heart attack.”
In order to ensure that his mother didn’t catch on to their plan, Tre’Vaughn had told her that he was on his way to South Korea to receive special training, and would be unable to make it home for the holidays.
The reunion was coordinated by Rekita’s friends and family, who had been planning the arrangement for the last few months. And based on Rekita’s reaction, I’m sure they know they did a great job.
Family means everything, and there truly is no greater bond than the bond between a mother and her children. This emotional and expressive reaction demonstrates the genuine love the pair have for one another.
Tre’Vaughn will be spending some time with his mother and rest of his family, before heading back to Asia for deployment later this month.
