Parents are precious. As our parents grow older and older, we realize more each day that our time with them is valuable. This man understood the importance of the little moments when he was spending the day with his mother.
Armand Foisy was driving down a snowy road with his mother, who is 101 years old. The two of them were enjoying the scenery just outside of Armand’s hometown; a fresh blanket of snow covered the ground. After a tour of the frosty pine trees, Armand was ready to come back. He turned the car around, but he never could have guessed what would happen next.
Just as the car was turned to face the opposite direction, the woman had her hand on the passenger door. Armand’s mother had decided that she wanted to see the snow – up close and in person. “Before I could get back on the road, the door flies open and out steps mom,” Armand explained in his YouTube video. She got out of the car and immersed herself in the wintry wonderland.
Armand had been preparing to go back home, but he made time to appreciate this precious moment with his mother. He knew that seeing the snow meant a lot to her, and he was thrilled to have a chance to see her heart fill with excitement.
Armand quickly got out his camera. He wanted to catch the entire scene on tape. He shared that “when you have a mother that’s 101 years old, it’s a good idea to keep the camera nearby for those special moments. This is one of those.”
Armand filmed as his mother bent down, scooped up a wad of snow into her hands, and formed it into a snowball. She slowly picked up the sphere, examining it carefully. She wanted to take in every detail that her eyes could see. This woman’s appreciation for the snow is inspiring.
With a smile that stretched from ear to ear, Armand’s mother patted and molded the snowball. She laughed as pure joy emanated from her. “Oh my oh my oh my, look at that!” She exclaimed, still admiring the icy ball in her hand. Then, as she glanced around at the falling snowflakes, she tossed it into the woods.
“That’s amazing!” Armand said to his mother through bubbly laughter. The two talked about how, strangely, the snow wasn’t cold to touch. His mom held out her hands to catch the flakes as they fell.
This sweet moment between a man and his mother are a reminder of how valuable family is. Our memories with our loved ones are precious, and we should cherish each one of them.
