Itโs swimsuit season, and for many women, thereโs nothing more refreshing than some well-deserved cynicism about swimsuits.
Thatโs where Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley come in.
This very funny pair of mothers started the popular Facebook page Imomsohard, a collection of hilarious posts and videos about motherhood. With material thatโs two parts sardonic wit and one part sage advice, Kristin and Jen are clearly striking a chord with their fellow moms; theyโve attracted over 1,000,000 followers and a Yoplait sponsorship.
They recently released a new video, โI Swimsuit Season So Hard,โ about the impossible, awkward choices that mothers are faced with when it comes to choosing a swimsuit. Itโs already been viewed 18,000,000 times, and itโs not hard to see why.
โWhatโs with these cut outs? Isnโt the whole idea to keep everything in?โ complains Kristin. Sheโs on the left, sporting a black swimsuit that โlooks like youโre pressing something against a tennis racket.โ
โIt looks like that swimsuit was designed byโฆโ Jen pauses, searching for the right name.
โSpiderman?โ Kristin guesses. She tries on her assertive mother voice.
โGet out of the water! You donโt have an adult with you!โ she yells to a fictional child. โYou canโt discipline in this,โ she concludes.
Jen isnโt overjoyed about her suit either.
โThis gives me four complete butt cheeks!โ she notes, amazed.
But jokes aside, Kristin and Jen offer comfort to their fellow moms.
โNobody thinks they look perfect, ever!โ says Jen. โLetโs just all go to the beach-โ
โ-and have a good time!โ Kristin finishes.
So, they go put on the kind of outfits they would actually wear to the beach.
โWell this is real life,โ says Jen.
โThis is how I go to the beach,โ says Kristin. โMy kids think Iโm awesome.โ
โI want my daughter to love her life and to love herself, but sheโs not gonna do it because I tell her to do it. Sheโs gonna do it because I teach her to do it,โ she adds.
But, of course, the comedians couldnโt let the video get too sentimental.
โI would love a revenge body, but Iโll take a f*** it attitude,โ says Kristin, back in an unflattering swimsuit.
