It’s always a huge problem when there’s an insect infestation in your house. It’s a mess that’s downright disgusting. Plus, insects can spread diseases that can have an effect on you and your family’s health. This is why it’s so important for homeowners and rental companies to keep their properties clear of pests. After all, once they start taking over, it can be difficult to get rid of them.
That’s true of just about any insect. But some are worse than others. One type you don’t want in your home is the bed bug. They can quickly get out of control, causing chaos.
Bloodsuckers
Bed bugs aren’t just gross…they suck your blood. Although they usually hide in mattresses, they can be anywhere in your home. You’re especially likely to find them in dark places.
Their appearance
These bugs are small, they have an oval-shaped body, and they’re usually brown. You might not notice them during the day because they’re inactive at that time. Instead, they come out at night. This is when they bite their victims.
They inflict painful bites
Sure, just about any insect bite is going to be uncomfortable. But the bite of a bed bug is particularly painful. Victims often notice a trail of several marks in a line when they wake up, showing each bite.
One woman’s experiencing this problem
A Dayton, Ohio woman recently saw what a big problem these bugs cause. She rents an apartment that’s infested with them. Unfortunately, she doesn’t know what to do about it.
The leasing company won’t help
While this woman’s leasing company sprayed for the bugs, they haven’t gone away. The tenant says they haven’t done enough. This is evident since she’s still dealing with the infestation.
She’s worried about her son
The woman has a young son. Naturally, she’s concerned about him living in a place that has such a significant insect problem. Not only is it uncomfortable for her, but she also has to worry about her child.
She had to throw out her furniture
The bugs became such an issue that she had to toss out all of her furniture, costing her hundreds of dollars. The bugs had buried themselves in more than just the mattresses.
Time for revenge
Because the woman wasn’t getting what she needed from her leasing company, she decided she’d get revenge. She wanted to show them what she was dealing with. So, she took some bed bugs and released them in the office.
Risky business
But that was a risky move on her part. If the company decides to press charges, she could get in serious trouble with the law. That’s why she’s remaining anonymous.
She might do it again
Even though she can get in trouble for spreading the bed bugs to the leasing office, the woman says she might do it again before she moves. She wants them to know what she dealt with so they start treating it like a serious problem. It might be an extreme move but her frustration is understandable.
