Jennifer Miller hasn’t seen her son for 2 years and she terribly misses him. Who can blame her? She is, a mother after all.

U.S. Marine Cpl. Shane Miller’s mom was invited to throw out the first pitch for the York Revolution game last June. It was to honor her son, who has been in stationed in Okinawa, Japan, since 2017.

For 2 years, Jennifer has only been able to talk to Shane every other month. For any mother, this is such a hard time. You are missing your son, you are worried sick about him but at the same time, you know he’s doing his duty as a citizen.

After Shane graduated from Dallastown Area High School, he decided what he wanted to do and from there, he ended up enlisting in the Marine Corps. Soon, Shane Miller was whisked off on a two-year deployment to Asia.

“I knew he was taken care of,” Jennifer Miler said. “But when that phone would ring at an odd hour of the day, your heart drops because you don’t know if it was a good call or a bad call,” Jennifer told in her interview for York Dispatch.

All she can do is to pray and miss her 23- year old son.

Now, back to the game, little did Jennifer know that the catcher on the other end is none other than her son – U.S. Marine Cpl. Shane Miller. He planned this and was in disguise so he can surprise his loving mother.

How sweet is that?

After Jennifer got ready and threw the ball, it actually ended up bouncing out of the catcher’s mitt.
