Let’s face it- the current state of everything has brought on some pretty trying times.
While 2020 will undoubtedly go down in history as the harbinger of an entirely new era, it also brought a lot of good along with it. If nothing else, the lockdowns and quarantines have ironically brought people closer together, even in a time where social distancing is the new trend.
In the most vulnerable of times, we are united beneath the universal experience. We are able to relate on a grand scale, as well as offer our hearts on an even grander scale. While we face grim circumstances, many have remained focused on the positive, maintaining that love is abundant and offering uplifting support in a time where every single person could use it.
That’s where English singer Jordan Rabjohn and his mom come in.
They recently banded together for a duet that struck listeners to their core.
In a soulful and poignant cover, the two recorded themselves performing Andra Day’s utterly moving song “Rise Up.”
The casual and intimate bedroom recording is accompanied by their powerful voices delivering a message of solidarity and hopefulness.
Rabjohn begins the video singing, moving into the song with the same power and strength Day delivers in the original.
As Rabjohn takes the first verse, the camera pans to his mother to initiate the chorus, and she completely lets her voice take over.
Their performance is sure to give you goosebumps in the best way possible.
While uncertainty may currently have the upper hand, the Rabjohns are here to show us that despite everything, we still have one another.
And what could be sweeter than sharing this tender message as mother and son?
“When the silence isn’t quiet
And it feels like it’s getting hard to breathe
And I know you feel like dying
But I promise we’ll take the world to its feet
And move mountains.”
Throughout the video, the two come together to deliver heartening sentiments scrawled out on note cards.
While they deliver this seriously wonderful song, they keep it light and airy, opting for a few giggles in between.
Most importantly, they remind us that we’re not alone and that community surrounds us.
Rabjohn writes in the video description:

And spread the positivity and love they do indeed! In fact, their reception on the internet since uploading to YouTube has been overwhelming. Their video has received over one million views and 125,000 likes, with almost nine thousand comments!
People have poured into the comments section, thanking and appreciating their uplifting efforts.
