Joy Veron isnโt only an incredible mother of three, loving wife, and an amazing teacher โ sheโs also a true hero.
While Joy and her family were having a family outing, her children ran ahead of her and her husband to get into their SUV. Nothing was out of the ordinary; it had been a wonderful day with her adventurous family. However, all of that was about to change.
Shockingly โ as soon as her three kids piled into their SUV, it started to roll toward a cliff.
The SUV began to roll down a steep path; it was gaining speed as it continued downward โ the car, with all of the children inside, was heading toward a cliff. The children were in mortal danger; Joy was watching in horror.
โI just saw complete fear. I remember their little eyes were huge, looking at me just like โhelp me, do somethingโ,โ Joy recalls.
Joy and her husband began to run full-speed to try and catch up with the SUV. She was determined to do anything she could to stop that truck from hurting her kids โ or worse. The only thing she could think of was to somehow get in front of the car.
Joy threw her body in front of the moving car with her kids trapped inside; the SUV continued to drive right over her.
The carโs tires rolled over Joyโs body, breaking her back. However, her actions were enough to slow the car down so that her husband was able to hop into the car and pull the emergency brake.
โAt first I was relieved because I knew we survived, but then I remembered my mom,โ one of Joyโs daughters says about that horrific day.
Joy was on the ground, fighting for her life โ the SUV had crushed her body, breaking her back. She was rushed to the hospital immediately.
It was a miracle that this heroic mother survived, but the doctors told her that it would be a less than 1% chance sheโd ever walk again.
โMy back was broken, but my spirit wasnโt broken,โ Joy says after her kids were feeling guilty about the event.
All of Joyโs kids are in complete awe of their heroic mother and the perseverance and strength that she possesses. Her willingness to do anything for her children and her ability to push through such a horrific ordeal is absolutely incredible. They consider her their true hero.
