Most of us are the way we are because of our parents. Not that they are completely responsible for the kind of person we grow up to be, but our DNA and upbringing does help to shape our personalities and beliefs.

That’s why it’s so important to make your children feel loved and confident about themselves.

Unfortunately, not all parents got that memo. Emely Cifuentes posted a heartbreaking note on Twitter that was written by her 10-year-old sister Marley after her mom let her down.

The 17-year-old had a pair of Vans sneakers and she asked her little sister to paint them. Her little sister wants to be an artist so she figured it would be a good exercise for her.

Marley turned the Vans into a beautiful unique new shoe. Unfortunately, their mother took it upon herself to dump all over them.

“I asked my little sister if she could paint my shoes because she wants to be an artist before I left to go out. And when I got home this was on my bed and now I’m literally crying because I love them so much and it sucks how much your parents affect you when they’re not supportive,” Emely wrote on Twitter.

This deeply upset the little girl’s feelings and Emely was heartbroken to see her sister so hurt and that Marley would assume that Emely would break her heart too.

“Dear Emy, I’m sorry if you don’t like them. I tried my best. Mom said she didn’t like them and that broke my heart. I don’t need you to break it more. Now that I see it, I agree with her. You shouldn’t have let me do that. I’m so sorry,” Marley wrote.

But the internet was not about to let this little girl feel bad.

Emely’s Tweet ended up going viral and was retweeted almost 90,000 times. Heartfelt words of kindness and support started pouring in encouraging Marley to keep her chin up and to continue following her artist dreams.

“Marely you continue to keep painting those beautiful sneakers and don’t ever let anyone tell you different,” one Twitter user said.

People started making sneakers for Marley that included her own design.

She even started getting orders from people asking them to make her shoes and were offering to pay her. Some suggested that Vans hire Marley to design her own shoe. Vans Warped Tour told Marley how talented she is and Vans also tried to reach out to Emely over her post.

“Well tell Marley we think these are the coolest Vans we’ve seen – they put the custom Warped Tour vans we are designing to shame,” said Vans Warped Tour.

Wow, she sure showed her mom huh? Some people wait all their lives to be able to do that. Bravo Marley! Marley was overjoyed with all the love and support she received.

“Dear Nice People, I am so blessed that there was more than 3K comments. My friends are so blown away,” Marley wrote. “BTW I am 10 years old. If I could paint all of your shoes I would. And if I would meet all of you I would. But, here are 3 facts about me. I LOVE drawing as you can see. I LOVE art. I also LOVE all of you!”

She is the sweetest little girl! You can see Emely’s entire feed below.
