Some people decorate their homes with a stunning light display to spread Christmas cheer. But farmers… some farmers plow their way into the holiday season.
We’ve all seen crop circles and other cool designs farmers plow into their fields but during the winter at Prunty Farmers, there’s nothing but snow.
The fifth generation family farm had been hit with 10 inches of the white stuff, so farmer Dan Prunty decided he would get a little artsy with his John Deere 6400 tractor to get his farm in the holiday spirit. That’s how DeereTracks was born.
DeereTracks uses a tractor and a drone to film designs being created on the farm. Dan used his tractor to spell out a fun holiday messages for all to see.
However, he was hoping one person, in particular, would get to enjoy his creation.
“What do you get when you mix a Tractor, a Drone and 10″ of Snow?” he wrote. “A TWO ACRE MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Hopefully, Santa will see it when he flies over on Christmas Eve! I mixed my farming background and video chops to create this fun and festive video for my family farm. Armed with my DJI Phantom 2 drone and a bit of creative luck, it turned out better than I could have hoped.”
According to Prunty Farms’ Facebook page, Dan said that he free-handed the design without GPS at first but later had his dad drive the tractor while he filmed it.
“GPS would have made it a lot easier though!” he said.
The results were an awesomely festive message that is sure to warm your heart.
Prunty Farms has all sorts of cool videos on the YouTube channel that shows all the amazing things that can happen on a farm.
“Our goal is to provide entertaining and educational content to help promote agriculture through quality photos and videos,” their Facebook page states.
The video of their Christmas snow plow design has gotten more than 2.2 million views.
“This is what happens when you fall asleep at the wheel while doing chores! Hahaha!” Dan commented on Facebook.
And Prunty Farms fans were overjoyed by their unique Christmas display.
“Oh wow! May you and yours have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! (It was impressive when I thought you were using GPS; freehand, the superlatives fail.) Another great thing from South Dakota. Thank you,” said one fan.
