Whoever’s coming up with these signs deserves a raise. 😂

Signs are all around us for a reason. They’re a great way to send a message.

While they’re most often used to draw in customers, every once in a while some businesses may use them to agitate their competitors.

It’s all fun and games, of course. For the most part.

This McDonald’s decided to have some fun.

Pro wrestlers become even more famous if they have great mic skills.

Having the ability to roast your competition with the wittiest and nastiest of comments makes for great entertainment.

Businesses in a Missouri town understand this fact so they got to roasting each other in a road sign war that has made rounds all over the internet.

It’s so good it seems scripted.

A McDonald’s in Marshfield, Missouri fired the first shot just by asking, “Hey DQ! Do you wanna have a sign war?”

So the nearby Dairy Queen, not wanting to look like a fool, accepted their competitor’s challenge, responding with, “We would but we’re 2 busy making ice cream.”

Oh. Ouch. Ice cream?

Does McDonald’s really want to respond?

McDonald’s was quick to fire back.

They over confidently responded, “That’s cute our ice cream makes itself.”

Which ice cream do you prefer?

So, nothing too crazy at first, just a couple of restaurants doing a tiny bit of poking.

Then, DQ turned rather… salty.

“You mean it actually works,” the Dairy Queen responded, before adding, “Shocker.”

See, there is a running joke (a long one) that the McFlurry machines are oftentimes not working, even in other parts of the world.

“Wow, salty,” McDonald’s retorted.

This was followed with a witty self-advertising comment saying, “Like our world famous fries.”

The other smaller businesses in the area soon got involved in the ribbing, (free exposure!) adding their own twist on the already hilarious exchange.

A local bank, Arvest, soon wrote, “Ice cream machine broken? We have a loan for that.”

That’ll bring the kids in.

The Marshfield Area Chamber Of Commerce posted the witty road signs on their Facebook page, getting more people to see the war of words in Missouri.

Turns out, others wanted in.

Randy Bryant is the local director of operations at McDonald’s, and he told Ozarks First,

“Marshfield is such a close community, we’re all like family here. Mario on our team had a great idea to get this all started! He said, ‘It’s hot, the world is throwing everyone challenges and negativity,’ so we all found a way to laugh and have fun as a community. And what’s better than an old fashion sign war?”

It’s a great move.

It almost feels like the 80’s and 90’s all over again, and we all love it.

Not one of these businesses had to bring out a huge amount of money for a commercial shoot or a social media post.

They just had to have fun.

Just old-fashioned road signs that everyone could see, whether driving by or on the internet.

Let’s hope they increased their foot traffic and boosted profits – but what’s most important is that they boosted spirits.

People underestimate the power of words.

Words can uplift people or pull them down. They can build or destroy, so choose wisely.

The “war” kept on going, so check out more of these hilarious signs in the post below!
