This is Mark Villaver. He’s one of Taylor Swift’s ridiculously talented backup dancers from her 1989 world tour and is an overall sweetheart.
He recently auditioned for “So You Think You Can Dance” and his incredibly unique dance style completely impressed the judges. He started the audition off with some super graceful contemporary dance moves.
To any other non-dancer, these moves were probably enough to wow, but for the seasoned SYTYCD judge, it was pretty standard. But this is where Villaver busted out this beauty of a move:
Was that a break dancing move?! You don’t typically see this kind of movement in contemporary, but there it was. Break dancing is supposed to be super punchy and bold, so using it in the middle of a dreamy, slow tune like James Bay’s “Let It Go” was unexpected, to say the least. Villaver also somehow made it look graceful and light and airy and to be frank not at all jarring. Then he did the most graceful windmill ever:
We shouldn’t at all be surprised at his dancing prowess, however. Villaver’s got a killer following on his Instagram page and YouTube channel where he posts bits and pieces of his choreography. Here he is dancing with his mom (he definitely got it from his mama).
